    Default Breakfast anyone?

    I hate breakfast. I know that skipping breakfast isn't supposed to be a good idea, especially if you're overweight, but I hate to even think about breakfast. When I wake up in the morning, I'm not hungry and can't stand the thought of food for at least a few hours. By the time I'm ready to eat, it's often mid morning and, if I eat too much, it interferes with supper. Now, I love pancakes and french toast and all kinds of sweet breakfast fare, but I know they aren't a healthy choice and I also usually feel better if I don't eat at all than if I eat that stuff. I'm not a big fan of eggs for breakfast either. In fact, I'd just as soon have a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast, but I get bored with that after a while too. So, I'm trying to find some breakfast foods that are healthy choices and aren't real heavy. I also prefer not to spend a lot of time on preparation and clean up. Any ideas?

    I do yogurt (fat free vanilla, usually), a small apple, cut up in the yogurt, and add some cereal. I like the Nature's Path Pumpkin Seed Flax Granola. It's really good for you, tastes good, and adds crunch. Very healthy too!

    Dreamfields pasta has a reduced glycemic index (about 65% lower than regular pasta), and it tastes pretty good.

    Breakfast is a very serious matter. One should never go without it. We always enjoy our breakfast more when we go on vacation. If we are lucky, we finish just in time for morning coffee. That lasts until lunchtime, which finishes in time for afternoon tea, which lasts until dinner. On good days, we might manage a bite of supper before bed.

    Yes, BUT it's chief weapon is suprise...suprise and fear....suprose, fear and a...

    Oh nevermind.

    Grits taste like whatever you put in them. I have never really liked them with milk and sugar. I like it with butter, cheese, garlic and black pepper.

    Oh, I dunno. Back in the days bd(before diabetes) I would sometimes heat leftover spagetti with sliced ham, green onion, any veg, scrambled eggs, dried chives, salt, and Parmesan cheese in a skillet for breakfast. Yum! Good for lunch too. Very filling.

    6 large ice cubes
    1 banana
    1 cup 2% milk (you may prefer different, but I need a little fat in milk)
    And this is where it gets creative. I mix that up in a blender with chocolate or vanilla meal replacement powder BUT you don't have to do that. You can add a little sugar, honey or sweetener of choice, and or some cocoa powder or whatever. Make a tasty & filling shake. Without the powder it's about 200 calories, depending on size of banana and type of milk. Pour into a portable container and go.

    That sounds like an excellent idea. I can get my chocolate fix for breakfast. I need to add bananas to my shopping list.

    This was perfect. It filled me up without making me feel stuffed and it tasted delicious. I used the icecubes, 1 banana, 1 cup of fat free milk, 1 tablespoon of cocoa and 1 packet of Splenda. I will have this for breakfast again tomorrow morning. Thank you for the perfect recipe.

    I have recently started eating breakfast (I never am hungry in the morning either)... I actually lost about 20 pounds by doing this, because then I would eat lunch at a decent hour and dinner with the family. Before this I would eat lunch around 2 and then eat dinner very late.
    One thing is I don't always eat breakfast food, just something to jump start your metabolism! Sounds weird, but sometimes I just pop a can of corn in the microwave or eat some ramen noodles! Another favorite and very healthy is Vietnamese Spring Rolls leftover from the night before. Very fresh and healthy!

    I like cereal of some type of wheat flakes, but instead of milk I will use a yogurt.

    I like eggs, but I use a 1/2 of salsa and make space in the salsa for the eggs then bake. If I am doing a breakfast for guests I will cook on top of the stove a can of diced spicy tomatoes, some peppers and then create 4 to 6 spots(holes) in mixture to add eggs, then cover and simmer till eggs are done.

    When I was growing up, my dad would do some peanut-butter and jam toast, just spread the peanut-butter on the toast then add jam or conserves, then put in the oven and broil till the topping is bubbly. Tasty and good in a pinch.

    i'm with Hootmon on the pasta (even if he says he posted here by mistake), i have made a nice pasta salad and had it for breakfast. throw in some shredded chicken or flaked tuna and its even better. use the really good whole wheat stuff and it will stick with you longer. use ranch dressing cut with mayo, its mild but flavorful, and even add bacon bits or crumbled bacon.... cubed ham even...



    another thing i do is melon and grape salad.

    i have a sensitive morning tummy and it has taught me that it really does not matter what you have for breakfast, as long as you do- and its relatively healthful. usually its all the same basic elements anyway.

    take loaded pizza for instance, its pretty much a stuffed omelette with an English muffin replacing the eggs .

    we frequently have breakfast-for-dinner meals over here.

    Nature Valley granola bars and fruit yogurt are great together, you can dip your bar in or crumble it.

    the suggested smoothies are great too, use frozen berries, there are peach blends that are yummy, mix up your fruits, freeze some melon cubs and try them too.

    make yourself a trail mix out of your favorite cereals (multigrain cheerios are awesome for this), whole grain mini pretzels, dried fruits (dates, dried cranberries, chopped figs and apricots) mixed nuts- almonds and apricots are a natural match.


    maybe i'm weird, but this is all stuff i'd do

    Week days, 4 egg whites and a banana, coffee lots, intravenously if I can.

    Weekend, Three eggs with onions, bell peppers, cheese and mushrooms, two pancakes, 3 strips of bacon, home fries, three cups of coffee and a glass of OJ. (This is when I work with the horses).
