    Cry :-(

Ok, Now I'm really depressed. No one even bothered to read my post. I guess that means all of you are either too young and not to this point in life yet or are past this point and on to greater things in life. Ok, I only have 2 more weeks before I can get into the dr and get some help. The rapture would be really good right about now.... I even tried jumping out my window but I'm on ground level and it only rattled my brain more... LOL... its sooooooooooooo quiet in this thread..... maybe if the voices in my head would kick in I would have someone to talk to and who might be sympathetic to my plight....... ..... oh well, tomorrows another day....

I am at the end of menopause. I went to a doctor and got on medication when I was where you are. You will survive this. It does get better. Hang in there.

I just turned 50 last month. There are 35 symptoms and some of mine are very severe because my stress level is so elevated.... that only makes a tough time that much tougher... Oy vey

Sunshine, I'm 47 and I believe I'm going through perimenopause. I'm having the occasional hot flash and the occasional mood swing. My periods are also very irregular. I get tired easily. Exercise seems to help me when I get tired & emotional. I go to the Y & walk on the treadmill for about 20 minutes and it helps. I am not on any sort of hormones - there is a history of breast cancer in my family (my mother died from it), so hormones are contraindicated for me.

I hope your doctor can help you, Sunshine. Here's another for you.

I am. It's annoying. It's lasting too long, and I'd really love to get more sleep.

Yes - I know exactly who is. Me!! It's downright horrible with so many fluctuating symptoms. I am boiling hot a lot of the time and sweaty - other times I'm "cold to the bone". I'm having night sweats and irregularity in my cycle. (and sometimes it is REALLY heavy and floods). Also memory loss, loss of concentration, some depression, dry skin and eczema on my scalp for the first time ever, hmmmm - what else (my brain is fried!!) - oh yes - TERRIBLE PMS - where all I can do is sleep and feel nauseated.
As if periods, puberty and childbirth aren't enough - we now have to contend with this?
I am off to see an endocrinologist at the end of the month to talk about possible treatment options. Mine are a bit limited as my eldest sister has estrogen dependent breast cancer so I don't think HRT is going to be suitable for me.
Sigh...oh - interrupted sleep and getting up at night to go the the toilet are other symptoms!!!! FUN isn't it? NOT!! Mishk. xox

This to shall pass I am through menopause YAY !! But still clearly remember all those symptoms. I never did use any hrt, I did use Ambien for a while to help me sleep though. I was pretty lucky that my symptoms were managable, Just remember that it is not forever and it will get better

Thanks Ladies.. I know it'll pass sooner or (and most likely) later but the memory lapses, confusion, lack of clarity and purpose are killing me. I have read enough to know that the extreme amount of stress actually makes the symptoms worse... I plan on going and getting on natural hormone therapy but the fact of having to wait IS not helping.. and I usually have a decent amount of patience on things.... Its just a good thing that I KNOW NOT to tie my faith into my emotions or anything else right now other than the truth and knowledge of it. So I put my "feelings" and "lack of mental ability" on the back burner and go w/ the facts. I really just wanted to know if anyone else hit this stage w/ such ferocity (sp?)... but they would have to have hit it w/ levels of stress that I wouldn't wish on anyone. AAAAGGGGHHHHHH! This is so hard.....

Ok.. I started a vent here but had to erase it... LOL.... it made me tired typing it out.... thanks for listening ladies... the ONLY thing missing is the hot flashes... but I may be having those and not even knowing it... I was in labor for 2 hours before I figured it out..... (yea, I"m blonde).... ok, just so you know... no one told me where the pain came from.. which part hurt... I thought it would come from the top down to push the baby.... uh... no.... only after I figured out they were coming in perfectly timed intervals did I realize what was happening and go to the hosp. ... Oy vey.. I may still jump out my window... I just dont have as far to fall..... Now where is that chocolate????????????

Count me too! I never sleep good anymore, but I do cardio almost everyday and it helps a lot!

    Question

    Is 43 too early?

I am just speculating (no Dr. visit) But I seem to have a lot of the symptoms mentioned by a lot of posters here. I am also gaining like crazy (no one has mention this.) achey joints, moody.

It all started actually after I had my 3rd baby 2 years ago. That would make it 41????? I just related all the symptoms to "just having a baby and breast feeding". BUT IT'S STILL CONTINUING .... so it just might be perimenopause. Maybe I should start looking up information so that I will know what I am heading for.

Sorry for the rambling .... another symptom?

I would not mind going home anytime soon.

Ok, for those of you new to this world, here is a list of symptoms w/ the link following.... just so you won't feel alone and I've highlighted the ones that are severe for me.... and oh yea... the guy who chimed in??? Dont be too sure of yourself, I know a pastor that actually went to the dr and his hormone levels were changing to some extent (testostorone to be exact) and he had to get treatment...... no, not like womens but he said the same thing does happen in men... we just can't go out and buy a boat and disappear for the weekend on the lake with the guys or pick up some other toy that will make us forget our symptoms.... our symptoms go with us wherever we go...... Things that are really helping me thru symptoms...

Walking at a steady pace daily for 30 minutes (treadmill helps). Lots of water, no sodas, low coffee and alcohol, no liquids after 7 p.m. Higher protein intake (add egg whites if you want a cheap fix). Cotton clothes. Sleep naked. Extra calcium. SAM-e (not cheap).

I went through surgical menopause at age 32. I really have to say that my symptoms were mild. I had no idea I was going through menopause. Only when the hot flashes started (about a year after surgery) did my doctor put me on ERT. I'm still on it at age 59 and for the most part, I feel pretty good. I have gained some extra weight but I think that is to be expected later in life and genetics definitely play a part in that.

Each woman is different because of different physiology and lifestyle as well as mental attitude.
