Default Shut up or you're out...

    Sorry thats

    Shut up or your out.....

    Long story short.
Yesterday at the YMCA I had a conversation with a woman about the need for Jesus Christ.
I even went so far as to warn her about hell and i told her about what the bible says in many area's.
She became very uncomfortable.(her words) with me talking about these things.

This morning i get a call from another woman at the Y.
One who is has been put in charge.
She told me if i ever have any conversations about these things with anyone again (member or employee) i will have my membership revoked.

Should I try to fight this and go and have a meeting with her and possibly try to shear the gospel with her at the risk of my membership?
or should i just be quiet?
It is her domain down their after all.

Are you an employee? If so is this job worth it?
If your a member of this club, they have no right to tell you what you can discuss with others. Now if that person your talking too doesn't like it then you need to respect that but for anyone to say you can't hold a conversation with another person on any subject goes against your Freedom of Speech.

Whatever you do, don't "shear" the gospel .

Guess they need to change the name to Young Men's Association. If I were you, I'd write a humble letter describing what you were told, why, and by whom, and send it up the YMCA chain of command. Give the perp a copy out of politeness, then at least don't preach to the two you know don't want to hear you until you hear back from someone in the YMCA organization.

BTW, it's "Shut Up or YOU'RE Out".. not YOUR.

And I think it would be a good idea to educate that woman in charge about the mission of the YMCA as stated on the YMCA website. "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all."

I WOULD DO WHAT TT SUGGEST FIRST
Give them an opportunity to respond first to your dissatisfaction
Get a rules and regulation info from their organization define their policy where it states they can dismiss you for freedom of speech. Make sure they have their rules posted in plain site for patrons to view.

And if that don't work contact John Whitehead

The First Amendment guarantees every American the opportunity to freely express themself. This fundamental freedom includes the right to distribute literature, discuss a multitude of views—even unpopular views, the right to engage in lawful picketing, and the right to peaceably assemble. It is critically necessary that a free society value and honor a free marketplace of ideas, diversity of opinion, and free expression. Defending this fundamental right is a central theme of The Rutherford Institute’s work because we believe that all other liberties depend on the right to speak freely

It also would not hurt to research their mission statement and get the local news involved if warranted we need to put a stop whenever we can for violating our 1st ammendment.

The YMCA idea, which began among evangelicals, was unusual because it crossed the rigid lines that separated all the different churches and social classes in England in those days. This openness was a trait that would lead eventually to including in YMCAs all men, women and children, regardless of race, religion or nationality. Also, its target of meeting social need in the community was dear from the start.

ummmm.....I'm wondering where we get slapped and insulted..by the world, and where the Holy Spirit takes the slapping. We're fragile when we work in the flesh....but,.....when we let Him go past us...and not have to catch up with His witness through us, we still are not gauranteed that we won't feel the pain of rejection. Lift up the Jesus cause relentlously, in love, gentleness, meekness, and joy! You might get thrown out of your membership. Aren't people all over the world getting thrown out of their life for proclaiming Christ! WE don't have any right to think it couldn't happen here, soon. Preach Jesus! Losing a membership for bringing life in Christ to a fitness place would be an oxy,eh

I had the same problem at my job,I left a tract, the client called and the boss said never to do it again.Who do I obey my boss or God?major duh-Go to God in prayer and ask what He wants you to do.In my case I was told to stay but be more descreet about my witness,so insted of leaving tracts at each stop,I might say God bless,or Amen if the tip is a larger one.Just get in prayer and follow the Master,s orders specific to your situation.

    I,m a fool for Christ,whose fool are you ???

I think this is very good advice. And don't forget to rejoice! (as seen in Acts 5:41)

Maybe you should bring the mission statement of the YMCA to the lady, and in love and humility, point out to her that you were just following the core ideas of the organization. Maybe she will leave because she is unaware that she is working for a "Christian" organization.
    Jesus you are my rescue!

Somebody should remind them what the 'C' stands for in YMCA

    My Rapture/Left Behind Message

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

A Government big enough to give you anything you want, is also big enough to take away everything you have

Seems I recall a report a few years back that they had changed their name from Young Mens Christian Assoc. to just YMCA with the letters having no significance.

If i remember correctly the head quarters wanted to remove themselves from being a "christian" organization.
Eternal life is not a reward for effort. It is a gift to those who trust Jesus.

That change obviously has not happened as they do say "Young Men's Christian Association" in the history section of their website. They also say "Putting Christian principals into practice" in their mission statement.

If you take the C out of YMCA, you get the YMA. Which happens to be the Young Muslim Association. Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

Yes, I agree. But there will be a day where if you openly use His Name, you just won't get booted out of a club. You'll be charged with treason. This is just a fore-shadow of things to come.
