For those who have ham for Thanksgiving, here is an EXCELLENT recipe:

Bean Soup

1 bag navy beans
½ onion, diced
1 to 1 ½ cup ham, diced
5 or 6 medium potatoes, diced
1 can peeled whole tomatoes, puree in blender

Wash beans and put in pot. Add diced onion and ham. (I also cook my beans with the ham bone in the soup.) Add water until pot is ½ full. Bring to boil and then reduce to medium heat. Cover with lid, but leave air gap. Cook until beans are almost done, adding about a cup of water as needed. Add potatoes and tomatoes. Cook until potatoes are tender. You usually do not need to add salt because you get enough from the ham and tomatoes.

Serve with biscuits.

** I also add a bit of cheese to my bowl. **
