I'm involved with a Christian outreach program that ministers to those who've been in difficult situations and we have devotions in the mornings 5 days a week. Not once do they mention that Jesus is coming back very soon and to be ready, but they don't mind talking about how messed up America is and how we as Christians need to take back our land. What? We, as God's children may have social security cards, birth certificates, but where we live is just our temporary home and we are just passing through, our citizenship is in heaven. We are called to be light until He calls us home. The Bible never commands us to take back the land to make it a Christian nation.
I was allowed to give a devotion one morning and I had to really pray up for it because it was about Jesus coming back and I also played 3 worship songs relating to Jesus coming back. The response was actually well received by most, but those who lead and teach throughout the week, didn't seem to be very supportive, and that to me was very disheartening. Its been over 3 weeks now and they haven't allowed me to speak since.
Being a watchman on the wall can be very frustrating and lonely at times, but once we get to heaven it will be well worth it.
And keep this in mind Paul addressed the Corinthian church to pursue the greater gifts and one being the gift of prophecy or prophetic teachings in the church, for it is to edify and strengthen the church to give us a blessed hope, when we feel the world is caving in on us, so that we can be reminded of the hope of the return of Christ.
So yes the preachers have a duty and responsibility to keep the church current on what is happening around the world as it relates to Bible prophecy so the church is not in the dark and knowing that Jesus is standing right at the door!
FOR THIS IS A TIME TO REJOICE AND BE ENCOURAGED FOR KNOWING THAT WE ARE AT THE BREAKING POINT FOR OUR LORD TO DESCEND FROM THE HEAVENLIES AND CALL US TO OUR ETERNAL HOME IN GLORY WITH THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!
He is coming! I shall know Him,
Jesus! My Beloved Lord!
Changed forever to His likeness;
Oh! What joy this will afford.

Look for Christ's return and you'll live for Christ's glory.

That is the correct way the saying goes. While I have preached a pretrib rapture including many times over the past two years, I still agree with the statement. Often you find people that are so "heavenly" minded that they are of no "earthly" use now.
Look at it this way. If someone thinks we will be raptured in this coming year and are fanatical about it, they probably won't be much good as a school counselor recommending 4 years of college and 4 more of medical school or even as a retirement planner for someone in their twenty's or thirty's. Mainly because they don't think we'll be here and planning years ahead would be a waste of time.
While I am ready to go today and pray for His return to be very soon, I have to balance that with my understanding that God may wait another hundred or thousand years. Only He knows. So we can't be so "heavenly" minded that we are no "earthly" good.![]()
Eternal life is not a reward for effort. It is a gift to those who trust Jesus.
