    FDA Commissioner Andrew von Echenbach

The Food and Drug Administration says vitamins, supplements, herbs and other natural substances, including water when it is used to "treat" dehydration, should be classified as drugs, and opponents have only until April 30 to express their concern about the proposals under Docket No. 2006D-0480.

The government agency under the direction of Andrew C. von Eschenbach, who became commissioner in 2006, also has put its "Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration" on a fast track for implementation.

But parents' groups, natural remedy interests, food and herb businesses and others are horrified. A group called Gentle Christian Mothers alerted its constituency in no uncertain terms.

"Please Read!!! The FDA is trying to regulate all things that are considered by them to be treatment for disease. They want to regulate vitamins, herbs, alternative therapies (things like hot stone therapy), even down to juices and holy water," the warning said. "It might mean having to go to a doctor or medical professional for vitamins."

They're in cahoots with the drug companies. The public is becoming aware of natural remedies for diseases. If a shift happens and a large majority of the public turns to these "cheap" remedies, the drug companies will lose a ton of money. That wouldn't be good for the FDA now would it?

I suppose if this passes, people will be illegally ordering vitamins off the internet, or smuggling them in from Mexico and Canada.

What is this going to mean for MLM companies like Shaklee that sell vitamins and minerals??? Are they going to be shut down by the Feds?

I could mean that, but it won't. What it will mean is that the FDA will ensure that when you buy a bottle of Vitamin E tablets, they'll actually be Vitamin E.

And it will also ensure that these various homeopathic remedies will have to undergo the same verified testing that drugs undergo. And the manufacturers of these "natural" remedies will not be able to advertise claims about their products unless those claims are backed up with lab results.

In other words, this will end the world of "miracle weight loss supplements" that don't actually do anything to help you lose weight.

    Codex Alimentarius

This is not really new. The idea behind this is covered with the very best intentions. Unfortunately the government has a long history of taking good intentions and red taping them to death.

It's not a bad thing to ensure what the label says you are taking, you ARE actually getting. BUT, the good ole government is stepping on my right to treat my body however I see fit. If a company is putting out bad stuff, the consumers will be the ones to run them out of business. I'm a big girl, I don't need big brother idiot proofing every area of my life so I never have to think and consider on my own thankyaverrymuch.

I also read where it said that when it goes into global implementation in 2009, it will result in a minimum of 3,000,000,000 deaths.
One billion through starvation and two billion will die from the preventable diseases of under-nutrition.

This sounds like a big scare, but if it does happen, it does sounds like something that would happen during the tribulation..i would think.

    Oh dear Lord come quickly.

Big Pharm gets hit with most everything in the US. Having worked as an NP, I can tell you that "Big Pharm" is not the evil giant it is made out to be. The FDA regulations make it so cost prohibitive to bring a new drug to the US market that they have to charge astronomical amounts to make up for the R&D process they had to undergo. Other countries are not as restrictive....and neither will the US continue to be once socialized medicine is adapted here.

High level FDA employees have recently admitted this, why defend them - their corruption is documented. DO you think the only place we see corruption is in the financial sector.....its everwhere thses days but it has been building for a long time?

Sure there are decent people who work their who probably know nothing and get caight up in the system but that doesnt mean they are moving to do this. Bottom line is....whoever you think is behind it....doesnt matter ..its happening. Are you okay with that loss of liberty?

Why don't they make a prescription for food then? Food is medicine. Though, they won't need to classify most fast food, it's not very nutritious.

Maybe they should classify the cholrine and flouride they put in the public water supply as medicine before they classify water hmm? People might have to start collecting rain water now or go to the river.
    God is logical.
If he wasn't, then he would have created the grass before the light!
What is the probability God would have gotten all 7 days in the right order if he had no logic?
