Hi folks, I am writing a book on Biblical meditation and I need help to distinguish this from false meditation. False meditation is not something I have studied or read a lot about and I want to warn the reader of the distinction between true and false meditation.
Please look over this list and tell me if there are any other distinctions I need to make so that those who are drawn to counterfeit self-serving meditation would recognize the challenge from reading the bullet points.
Many thanks.
TRUE & FALSE MEDITATIONS
False meditation empties your mind
Biblical meditations fill your mind
False meditations are repetitious
True meditations require spontaneous free communication with God
False meditations focus on a “sacred” word or phrase
True meditations focus on the whole scope of Biblical doctrinal context
False meditations are common among false religions as an experience
True meditation is not an experience
False meditation develops a feeling of euphoria
True meditation does not develop euphoria
False meditation is exclusive to one thought even shutting God out of your mind
True meditation is centered on God with many thoughts
False meditation does not need to be centered on God's Word
True meditation is based on God's Word
False meditation is not God and Bible dependent
True meditation is God and Bible dependent
False meditation brings conclusions that are not in God's Word
True meditation brings conclusions that are Bible based
False meditation produces self centered erroneous teachings
True meditation produces Bible centered true teaching
