Sure they've been released. The objective has been met...arrest them as dangerous terrorists and be sure to stress that they are "Christians," make a connection between the two and make sure it gets out to the public.![]()
they are just on bond...not totally free yet
I especially like this part:
They have basically called Christianity 'hate speech'“But, the Defendants are also correct: their right to engage in hate-filled, venomous speech, is a right that deserves First Amendment protection.”

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.
A Government big enough to give you anything you want, is also big enough to take away everything you have
And the judge has indicated that no crime was committed... In the future they'll have to do a better job of lining up the judge that is going to hear the case. It's looking more and more like it turned into a setup operation after the government plant couldn't find any real dirt on the group. It won't be too long before anti-Christian sentiment will become so strong that no real evidence will be needed.

Not correct. The judge said that they have a right to bail while they await trial. A jury must decide whether a crime was committed unless the defendants waive their right to trial.
While on bail awaiting trial, the judge ordered:
The following conditions of release apply to all Defendants:
(1) home detention with electronic monitoring and curfew as directed;
(2) surrender CCW permits;
(3) surrender licenses to carry or purchase guns;
(4) cannot apply for a license to carry or purchase guns;
(5) cannot drink alcohol;
(6) cannot use illegal drugs;
(7) subject to drug testing and/or treatment;
(8) seek or maintain employment;
(9) report to Pretrial Services on a weekly basis;
(10) provide phone records to Pretrial Services as directed;
(11) provide a list of names, addresses, and phone numbers for all Hutaree
members;
(12) provide a list of names, addresses, and phone numbers for members of
any other militia groups they associated with;
(13) submit to random visits from Pretrial Services;
(14) cannot possess, borrow, or be near firearms, ammunition, explosives or
other dangerous weapons;
(15) cannot have contact with any co-Defendant, without counsel present;
(16) cannot have contact with witnesses, without counsel present;
(17) cannot associate with, have contact with, or communicate with any
convicted felons;
(18) cannot associate with, or have unsolicited contact or communication with
law enforcement officers or other government employees, without counsel
present;
(19) cannot allow law enforcement officers inside Defendants’ place of
residence, except for official police business;
(20) surrender passports;
(21) cannot apply for a passport;
(22) cannot use a police scanner;
(23) cannot associate with, contact, or communicate with any militia or
paramilitary group and/or person associated with any militia or paramilitary
group, without counsel present; and
(24) cannot participate in militia or paramilitary activities.
The release on bail was also postponed.

In the news posts I've read on this topic, the judge queried the prosecution on what crime had been committed, because from everything presented the judge did not see that a crime had been committed. The prosecution indicated they hadn't shown everything they have on the group... the judge wasn't impressed... but I got that all from news sources which are rarely accurate... but based upon the news sources what I wrote in my first comment in this thread was correct. I do believe that in at least some jurisdictions a judge could throw out a case for lack of evidence of a crime actually having been committed.

Well, you clearly see there is no hesitation in
making the distinction of "Christian Militia".
Whereas the same is prohibited when referring
to muslims. Yes, I believe this was a Janet Reno
style operation to tests the waters.![]()
I notice that one of the terms is seek or maintain employment. These people have probably already lost their jobs, and having been publicly smeared, will probably find it difficult or impossible to get hired anywhere else.
Restrictions like these look like a setup to make them break the law. It would be best to refuse bail and stay in jail. If they have committed no crime, then throw the case out.

Yep, I can see another Waco incident, although instead of sending swat teams and tanks to a compound, they will be using them against the Church itself. Don't be too surprised if one day when you leave Church, you're surrounded by Nobama's hench-men with 'shoot to kill' orders

Robert said the defendants also must provide a list of names, addresses, and phone numbers for all Hutaree members and members of any other militia groups they associated with.
I can see why their lawyer would want this info...but being an associate does not make you a criminal and I don't see how they can demand personal information about others. Looks like a witch hunt to me.
Not defending them, but when Christians in general become "outlaws" for their hate speech, which will be quoting the Bible...then it's very easy for a judge to say they need the names, address and phone numbers of everyone in your church or prayer group.
Then they'll know who to round up...just saying...
In a sharp rebuke, a federal judge today acquitted seven members of a Lenawee County militia group of plotting to overthrow the U.S. government with weapons of mass destruction.
U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts said federal prosecutors failed in five weeks of trial to prove that the Hutaree had a specific plan to kill a police officer and attack law enforcement personnel.
While the testimony showed that Hutaree leader David Stone Sr. “may have wanted to engage in a war with the federal government ... it is totally devoid of any agreement to do so between Stone and the other defendants,” Roberts said in a 28-page decision.
“This plan is utterly short on specifics,” Robert said, adding that, “it is a stretch to infer that other members of the Hutaree knew of this plan, and agreed to further it.”
Attorney William Swor, who is representing the accused ringleader David Stone Sr., called today’s ruling “a victory for freedom of speech” and “a good day for justice.” He applauded Roberts for, as he put it, carefully reviewing all the evidence and concluding there was no case.
