several years ago - i was in a bike riding accident, and spent 2 days in the hospital. I also at the time just happen to have with me a pocket full of gospel tracts

well - i used those two days to do some hospital evangelism, i passed out tracts to visitors and patients all over that hospital while i was there, and God opened the door for me to witness to a guy in the cafeteria who had just 6 months to live, i shared Jesus with him, and he prayed to accept Jesus as his Savior

you just never know where God will put you, so He can use you to spread His life-changing gospel message

thanks for all the sweet and kind words of encouragement. It is very hard to take when someone says "you don't have enough faith...that's why your not healed". Or like a thread going on now where many have tried to tell a member that sometimes "sin" doesn't cause physical or mental disabilities. even when we quoted scripture from John 9:2 about Jesus healing the blindman and his followers asked was it his sin or from his parents sin that caused his blindness.? Jesus said was NOT from sin. it was to Glorify the Father.

by the way....aren't you suppose to be patroling the RR halls????? lol

    Have a GREAT week!
It's my week off...... GAL-actus, the Great, Girl Cactus is filling in, at the Tinfoil Shed this week.

The only thing worse than having people tell me "there's nothing wrong with you" is when they try to act as though it's my fault. How is it my fault to have bad DNA and prenatal brain damage? I was born this way! God will show them.

I absolutely agree about the specialized sowing field. My husband and I use a paratransit service. He has severe, obvious, physical problems. We are cooped up with drivers for minimum 5 minutes to hours at a time! We share testimony!

I tell my husband, witnessing from us packs a punch - we've got every reason to be bitter and selfish, between us! But we "Are so happy" and full of God's love for everyone (99.8% - working on it!). They all know it's because we know Jesus on a deep, personal level.

Well, I just wanted to share my evangelising attempt this week....

On Thursday at the Christian bookstore where I work, I purchased 10 x .99 cent ESV New Testaments. These are great little bibles... they are *meant* for evangelising as they have the plan of salvation and several other helps included. I also purchased several packages of salvation tracts, and inserted 3 different tracts in each Bible. I also used a hilighter pen to hilight John 3:16 and some other important things in each.

I then put my stack of bibles under the counter and left a note for my co-workers to say that I had paid for these, but anyone may give one out to some lost soul who wants/needs a Bible.

OK, so that was Thursday. Today, Saturday, I come to work and see my pile of Bibles is GONE. At first I thought the Boss lady had just moved them somewhere, but they were nowhere to be found. I phoned her at home and she said she saw them but didn't move them, but my co-worker was seen looking at them, and she might know. So I phoned my co-worker at home. Yes, she knew what happened to them..... apparently, right after she noticed the Bibles, a native Indian Pastor came in and asked if the store could donate any cheap Bibles for him to give out to people for evangelism. Well, we didn't have anything for the store to donate, so my co-worker decided that *he* could have my pile of Bibles!!! LOL well, that's not exactly what I had in mind for them, but I'm glad they were given to a Pastor (I do know this Pastor is on a very tight budget so he couldn't afford Bibles) who will hopefully find good homes for them.

So I am hoping and praying that even though the Bibles didn't get given away exactly the way I had imagined, that they will still be used to lead others to Christ through this Indian Pastor.

Night Elf- I'm thinking- God knew that Native pastor needed those Bibles,AND was coming to your store, so He had you set them aside!
That is such a great account of how God works. All He needs is our willingness to obey those "little" promptings!

God put it in his head to go there.

God put it in YOUR head to have them ready.

God put it on the co-worker to give him the whole stack.

I don't know how to say this delicately, but you can find better deals than the place you work. I will put up some links.

    http://www.holmanbibleoutreach.org/products.asp (I love these guys)

Many times I only have $5 to spend on Bibles, thanks to the Holman guys I can actually get 10 New Testaments. The Holmans are very basic, but I wrote up a little guide "Where to look in the New Testament" similar to what you find in the ESV's, and stick it in there.

Mary Rae and Acts, I agree with you both! Thank you for the words of encouragement!

Acts, thank you for those links No need to worry about "saying it delicatley". LOL.... it's not my store, I just work there If I can find evangelising materials cheaper somewhere else, that's where I'll go!

Some more links: both of these guys will send you stuff for free, but love donations.

http://www.gtpress.org/ - tracts! I love "Debt Paid" and "Have a good day". "As in the Days of Noah" is a good solid rapture tract. They would like from half a cent to 4 cents a tract. They flat rate ship 'em, up to 1000 for $6, so add that in too. Basically, a thousand or so tracts + shipping = $14 or so.

    http://www.wmpress.org/bksavail.shtml

World Missionary press. 4 cents a booklet, but will send them free on request. I love "Help from Above" and "How to Know God" "Who am I that a King Would Die in My Place" - all comprised of scripture verses by subject. Many languages, too. I get English and Spanish, and have a few Chinese and Vietnamese too.

I do those with the "Invitation" New Testaments, put them in a bag with about 15 cents of hard assorted candy ($6 for 7 pounds at Sam's Club), good to go!

Wow! I have not seen this thread before but I just read the whole thing and all this excitement is contagious!! I am sure I am going to be well on my way to be more drastic in evangelizing, as I feel we truly don't have much time left. I will pray as always for God to lead me exactly where He wants me.

Thanks everyone for your stories. I loved the one about the Pastor needing the Bibles, and as Acts said, that was truly a divine chain of events, that was perfectly orchestrated by God.

Praying that God's will be done in all of our ministries. :-)

the annual Christ on the Mall event in Wash DC on July 4th was once again a big success. This is a yearly evangelism outreach on the National Mall. We have many evangelism outreach tents set up on the Mall area, and pass out gospel tracts and bibles, water bottles, face painting and have music stage playing worship music. And yes we have a Federal park permit from the US government which gives us permission to share Jesus Christ on US government property, amazing !

at this year's event , we passed out thousands of gospel tracts and bibles, and had 146 recorded salvations at the days end. Of those salvation decisions, 2/3 were from USA visitors and 1/3 from international visitors . The people from foreign countries who accepted Christ were from Germany, France, China, New Zealand, Russia, Japan, Iran, Brazil, England and South Africa. This year's evangelistic outreach was truly an international event

i two special divine appointments happen to me during the July 4th event, one was two Russian college girls who came into our outreach tent and asked me how they could learn about knowing Jesus as their Savior. After 30 minutes of sharing with them the gospel message- they both prayed to accept Jesus into their lives. I then gave them both extra gospel tracts so they could take them back to their home country and share their new Christian faith withtheir friends. The other was a group of four New Zealand high school students who walked into our prayer tent, asking me about the Christian faith, and once again i was able to lead all four of the students in a prayer for them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. And i also gave all four lots of gospel tracts so they could pass them out to their friends when they get back home

here's is some of the event info from the Christ on the Mall website :
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    (FreedomFest|DC 2010 is here! )

The festival will take place on Sunday, July 4th, between the Air & Space Museum and The National Gallery of Art, bordering 4th St. and 7th St., NW - on the middle grass area. Just look for our tents and FreedomFest|DC signs.

Since July 4th is on a Sunday this year, we're having a special multi-church worship celebration at the main stage on site beginning at 10:30 am - 12:00 noon. You and your church or ministry are invited to come. Worship will be lead by the Upcounty Church Worship Band. The FreedomFest|DCoutreach event will begin after the worship and continue until 8:45 pm.

Please consider praying, volunteering and/or giving financially to support this year's festival (please stop by our Contact Us page and send us an email if you'd like to give a donation). Thank you!

FreedomFest|DC (or Christ On the Mall) is all about linking churches and ministries together in relationship for outreach on the National Mall in Washington, DC every July 4th.
FreedomFest|DC 2010 that happens this July 4th will be our 25th year on the National Mall!

Last July 4th was another amazing outreach! We thank God for all that took place. Over 200 volunteers from 33 churches and ministries came together to reach out to the thousands on the Mall. A number of people were touched by God's love. All day long we shared the love of Jesus Christ with people through music, kids programs, youth outreach, service projects (e.g, we gave out about 10,000 cups of free water), special international ministry and more. About 153 salvations were recored in 2009

July 4, 2010 will be a special 25th year celebration on the Mall. We hope that you can come on down on July 4th this year as like-minded churches and ministries come together to bring the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to the thousands on the National Mall.

The 2010 festival will take place between the Air & Space Museum and The National Gallery of Art, bordering 4th St. and 7th St., NW - on the middle grass area. It's three blocks of space. FreedomFest|DC is from 12:00 pm to 8:45 pm.

I have been wondering about you, Gary.

God's had me passing out a lot of material to other, very ill-looking people, on the paratransit service. If we were "normal" we would never have these opportunities.

I get the feeling some of them are on very limited time.

Acts 5:41 - you are so right, God will send divine appointments to all Christians who ask for them, but sadly not many church people ever really ask God to use them for eternal purposes, the "normal church crowd" does the Sunday church service and maybe a bible study during the week, and thats about it

its the few, bold, not so normal harvest workers out in the mission field that get all the divine opportunities to share the gospel message

most of my "regular" church friends look at me like i am crazy when i ask them to come out on the streets with me to pass out salvation tracts and bibles

back in the 70's they would have called evangelism loving Christians like us " Jesus Freaks"

and hey- thats just fine with me, cause being a Jesus Freak puts a big smile on our Lord's face !!!

If you ever come to Houston, we'll have a GOOD time. I have a lovely, laminated, "Free Bibles" sign for standing on street corners!

    Hello Evangelizers!!!

Just checking in..... I've asked my boss to order in some more of those great 99 cent Bibles (ESV New Testament) and I'm praying she can find more through her suppliers. In the meantime, I'm armed with tracts in my purse and try to remember to seed them around when I go out. Our store has a GREAT selection of tracts, so I'm blessed that I have a great variety to choose from.

That's all I have to report for now.... God bless you all in your efforts!

ps... Gary, I found the newspaper article of you passing out Tickets to Heaven on the beach, what a great ministry!!!!

I've been running the race too!!

I ordered tracts and am now giving out. I've placed some around in the waiting rooms at the hospital while I was there. I placed one in a paper that a woman at the hosptial ask for. I had witnessed to her last yr and she said she wasn't ready. I did lead her mother to the Lord at the same time last yr. she was in the hosptial from having a stroke, at the same time as my mama was in the hospital. not long after she accepted Christ she had another stroke and couldn't speak. so, God gave her one last chance and she took it. Praise the Lord!

I gave a tract to a young guy that stands at walmart greeting customers. this morning before church, I had to go in and as I came out and passed him I felt the spirit - lead me to give him one. so I turned around and reached in and got one and told him...."if you get bored here;s something for you to read. he said ok.

a couple weeks ago I lead someone to Christ thru the power of the Holy Spirit - IN - walmarts store! I first witnessed to him at the drs office. then a couple hrs later I saw him in at wally world. he prayed the sinners prayer standing in a aisle. Praise the Lord!!

For a long God has put people in my path. but it seems things have changed....I must be getting more awear of the lost around me or God is opening my eyes more or He's putting them more in my path.. I don't know what, but this country IS a missionary field!! we don't have to go to another country on a mission trip anymore to reach the lost. they are right here in our own town or city near YOU. We just need to be obedient to reach out to this lost and dying world around us today that is in our own back yard!

WE NEVER KNOW WHEN WE WILL LEAD THAT LAST ONE GOD IS WAITING ON.....

Oh how wonderful it would be to lead that last one to Christ and then whoooosh....
    off we go
flying to the sound of the trumpet!!!

dear Lord please use me to minister and witness to those You place before me. help me to know and clearly see who You want me to tell about Your free gift of salvation. give me the boldness and couarage I need to not be shy or intimated. give me wisdom and discernment to know what to say and how to say and when to say it. Lord let the Power of the Holy Spirit flow thru me as I speak and give me direction as I walk out into the mission field each day. Let Your light shine brightly thru me. and before me as I go out. thank You Lord for saving my soul and using me to touch the lives of others thru Your power and leadership. give me the physical ability I need to make an impact in this lost and dying world around me. forgive me when I fail You , in Jesus name I pray amen

Since my husband and I use paratransit services, we encounter a lot of other disabled people. Some of them are very ill; it is not uncommon for a driver to encounter a crying family member when they go to make a pickup. "They're dead".

In addition to having me hand out my stuff to the drivers, He has also got me handing out stuff to other passengers. One lady this week appeared very ill.

I must be doing something - I am battling a major attack right now.
