Here's what Thomas Ice thinks:
[COLOR="purple"]"...A widely used example of a verse taken out of context is 2 Chronicles 7:14: "and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray . . . "
In this verse, whatever the context and meaning we may give it, the key words are humble yourself.
My prayer at the moment to God is continually for me to learn how to humble myself. Do you know how difficult this is? To humble ourselves is extremely difficult. We have to give up pride, arrogance, desire for being noticed, wanting to be the leader, etc. None of us want to give up these things. For us to truly humble ourselves rquires a lot of repentance. If [BALL [/B]christians did truly humble themselves, there would be a difference. Have ALL Christians ever truly humbled themselves in repentance all at the same time. I don't think so.
Iam struggling with this, and whn I think I might be getting there, I find I have to learn more lessons.

" I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!"
Job 19:25
Do you want to reach people for Christ with the Gospel message of salvation?
Just had to chime in....
Dr. Fructembaum has great doctrinal studies on this issue- It is on the Covenants.
We are grafted in- yes, but we do not receive the physical blessings that Israel received. Thankfully, we
have received something far greater and that is spiritual blessings and the Holy Spirit. Paul says our citizenship is not on earth, but in heaven. Also, the Law of Moses is specifically for Israel because like the mods. have said we could not possibly follow all 613 laws.
I love the discussion on this thread. Every stinkin' time I get that stupid email that gets passed around on 2 Chronicles 7:14, I send a response out about this, hoping to wake someone up....yet, I keep receiving it.....
The book of Jonah has a great deal to say about what repentance will do for a Gentile nation and is more appropriate for the US right now than this passage in 2 Chronicles.
There was also an article about Charles Stanley's 4th of July sermon on Watchman Bible Study about our prayers over our nation (and he reminds the listener and the reader that not standing with Israel is part of our problem right now) and also how we live as believers that I thought was very good:
*** Mod Edit ***
There is a great famine in our nation of literal, contextual Bible reading, teaching, preaching, and study. I sat in a church for 3 years feeling like I was starving to death and incredibly thirsty while I was there and only filled when I studied alone at home with my Bible, just reading it and having the Lord Himself feed me.......surely, it should never be this way in a place that claims to be affilated with Jesus.
If I didn't know what was going on...........
Beloved Child: me too.
Lord, come quickly!
I tie in the 2 chronicles 7:14 to Hosea 5
14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
And like a young lion to the house of Judah.
I, even I, will tear them and go away;
I will take them away, and no one shall rescue.
15 I will return again to My place
Till they acknowledge their offense.
Then they will seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
The faithful remnant will do this and 2 chronicles 7:14 is literally fulfilled by Jesus. Jesus literally hears from heaven, comes down, defeats their enemies, forgives their sin and restores the land.![]()
....this has been a pet peeve of mine for "YEARS"....no one would agree with me on it....NO ONE!
thank-you for bringing the topic into the light, ...I am 100% in favor of separating the Church...from Israel...
The church is a Heavenly people...traversing this dusty planet...Living a Godly example...waiting for our redemption...made up of people of all ethnicities....but Christian is our Banner
Israel...is an Earthly people...made up of ...Jews...true, children of Abraham...who will inherit a refurbished planet forever privy to their covenant land....Halelujah....and receiving the Messiah as was meant to be....someday...
May it be soon.....![]()
I have been singing this all day--such a catchy tune! I especially like the 2Chron 7:14 poster!
Edited to add: Well, that didn't work. I guess I did that all wrong.
I'll be back....

very nice!
2 Chronicles 7:14 does not apply to America. It was specific to Israel. See this thread for a full explanation - http://rr-bb.com/showthread.php?1412...er-for-America
But each time I say the same thing, it is for Israel, not us.. Why don't some Christians get this?
As J. Vernon McGee said: "All scripture is not to us, but all scripture is for us". The OT was written to Israel, but in the NT the apostle Paul wrote that "all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching...", and I believe Peter wrote that those things were written in the past so that we could know.... I hope you do not discount the teaching of the OT simply because the prophets were addressing the people of Israel. Remember, at that time the church was still unknown, a mystery not revealed until our Lord Jesus himself revealed it.
Ph 3:15 (paraphrased):...And if on some point you and I think differently, that too God will make clear to us. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
That is pretty much how my pastor explains it. And if it makes people sit up and take notice, perhaps they will draw nearer to God--humble themselves and pray--which is always a good thing!
I know the US is sinking into a giant rathole, but I am going to use every weapon in the prayer arsenal to fight for it, and for its people to turn their/our faces to Him!God's Will be done.
I got a kick out of this, so I thought I'd share.
I went to youtube to share this video on my facebook. You know how at times it will pop up a security image, where you have to type in the two words that are displayed? Guess what the two words were...

Hebrews 12:3-4
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
