I am 43, and I sometimes wonder if its just me and I am the only one seeing and witnessing the madness around me. I wonder, I getting older now and pay attention to things nationally and globally more than I used to, or is it there are just some many more things happening? It certainly does seem there are daily breaking news updates with Violence, weather, earthquakes, wars, conflict, termoil, weapons of mass destruction etc etc.

Thank you Jesus for being My Lord and Savior! WE LOVE YOU!

I agree our world makes me about every day watching all this unfold....

however, we have "hope"!!! I think the Bride is about ready to walk down the aisle and meet her groom!!! and that makes me

I know how you feel Cris. There are times I feel like the Lone Ranger myself. I remember talking to My Grand Father in the late 70's about the world and the way things where getting even back then. He would be 114 if he was still alive so he saw a lot himself as far as WWl and II He used to think things where really getting crazy in the 70's If he where alive today I don't think he would believe what he is seeing. I have a really hard time of it. I can not imagine how he would feel.

    Default I agree

this world is getting weirder and weirder, more and more evil, more insane, more unexplainable, more lacking of compassion.

I struggle in trying to explain my point of view when things things are happening almost at light speed.

Just imagine how the Apostle John felt, trying to explain what he saw from heaven in Revelation. How do you explain a car, a helicopter, an airplane, a computer ...... when you don't even know the words for them.

    Default Mad World

AM 57, and this world is in rapid decline, I know the Internet has quickened response times for news, we are more exposed to the madness ,when I was small, and this particular time in history is bad, far more than I have ever seen.

This is an excellent thread. I'm kind of thinking as I go here. It seems to me that throughout history, there have men who stood out in there time for their evil. I think of people like the Pharoah in Egypt who just wouldn't let the Hebrews go and there were certainly others. However, it seems to me that things got turned up a notch in the 1900s. There was Hitler, Mussolini, Lenin, Stalin, Mao Tse Tun and others during the last century. Now it seems to me that things have again been dialed up a notch ot two with all the evil men we see in power at the same time. Add to that the changes in society and the way people interact. I don't know about everywhere else in the world, but here in the US, we have become fat, lazy, spoiled and self centered. I can't tell you how many people I know who think the world revolves around them and whose goal it is to have fun and do whatever they want to do, no matter who gets hurt. I also can't help but point out the number of natural and man made disasters in the last few years. Between extremes heat and droughts, flooding, mudslides, EQs, killer storms and oil spills, this world appears to be spinning completely out of control. If I didn't know the Lord as my Saviour and didn't understand why these things are happening, I would be terrified.

Has there ever been a time in history when there was so much "madness" controling the world?

Consider Obama, Ahmadinijad & Khamenei, Kim-Jong, Gaddafi, Castro, Putin, Chavez, Erdogan, Hariri, Abbas - have I missed any? - these men are either mad or evil, or a combination of both.

Through the ages we've had Hitler, Napoleon, Nero.. men who were mad and after causing much destruction, were doomed to destruction. But they seemed to stand out amongst the others of their era as the "one", not one of the "many". Today, men like Obama, are just "one of many"!!

Is this truly remarkable that we have so many world leaders who are mad/insane/evil at the same time, exerting so much influence simultaneously, as we have now?

Also considering the madness and lack of morals of local governments.... allowing gay marriage, the mosque in New York, Judges freeing criminals, the result is our society is degenerating fast.

Have we ever seen this before, down through history?

I agree - a part of this sense of madness is due to information overload in the 24/7/365 news cycle, cable news, talk radio, and the internet.

I'm 45. When I was growing up, there was the 6 o'clock and 10 o'clock news. This allowed time for a story to be researched and MOST of the angles to be presented. Now we see it live as the story develops. (Insert analogy of sausage-making and legislation here) Also, with so many news outlets, people gravitate toward the one that most closely represents their POV, reinforcing their belief that their POV is correct. This is part of why we've become so polarized.

Regardless, the increase in "madness" is simply a symptom of the birth pangs.

I think we have seen more individual evil (Hitler) but, I agree, at this time in History I think that we are experience the most evil group of leaders this world has ever witnessed.

And evil as a whole just seems to grow larger every day.

All the evil leaders of the past gained power trough force. God is letting satan have his way like he did with Job. He is preparing the world for his leader to step in, and take over the world without using force, and the people will gladly follow.

Difficult to say regarding a perception. War is the height of madness.

I would have to say some of the years of WWII would have been a very difficult time. Potentially active madmen and active madmen make a difference. We all can certainly see how this world is being set up for confrontation, like no other.

Remember the episode of Nebuchadnezzar's insanity. In America alone it seems as though we, as a whole, are gravitating towards the polar opposite of sensibility and righteousness, choosing rather the most ridiculous courses to pursue. For instance, we do not defend our borders, knowing full well the drug cartels as well as islamic sypathizers are coming across in droves, we accept homosexual everything regardless of the fact that all of the evidence points to it's negative impact on society, let alone the spiritual condemnation of the lifestyle. We are spending money that will not have any value whatsoever by the time it is printed...it's like we are in self destruct mode.

To reply to your question, in my opinion, madness is the result of the beginning of God withdrawing His hand...
    Fine post!

It can look like our time is worse than other times; however, the American Civil War was also very , very bloody and horrific according to history I recently saw on television. It's hard to believe people were that "fierce" on both sides , evidently.

Recently, I listened to a pastor (forget who exactly ) make this compelling point:

The early 20th century was the first time in recorded human history when atheist systems captured political power in many nations - Communism and Facism.

Is it a coincidence then, that more people died in wars and famines in the 20th century than in all previous times before it? (By some estimates.)

When entire nations rejected God, He gave them up to their follies. Consider that almost as many Russians died in World War 2 as did people from all other countries put together.

Now consider the 21st century we live in, when nation after nation passes laws allowing gay marriage. This is merely an indirect way of rejecting God and His laws. In fact most religions today are regarded with amused disregard, undisguised contempt, and in the case of Christianity, outright hostility.

So the harvest is bound to be even more dreadful...but we of all folks should not be surprised.
