Read the first two books in the series before Damascus Way:

Acts of Faith Series: The Centurion’s Wife, The Hidden Flame, The Damascus Way

I enjoyed all three very much.

"Gianna" by Jessica Shaver. its about the lady who survived her own abortion

    great book

safe for teens, descriptive but not overly graphic

    quite uplifting

my 13-y/o daughter read it first, she read it for a book report which she aced. only in a good Christian school could this book be so openly shared.

I'm reading "Edge of Apocalypse" by Tim Lahaye & Craig Parshall. It's a page-turner.

    Default Billy Sunday Bio

The 300+ page book--Preacher--a bio about Billy Sunday by Robert Bruns has great detail and side stories not included in shorter bio,s.He had detailed references, other available followup bio,s about this man and a complete index in the back of this book.Included are pictures of his baseball days as well as his later years. He gives the lives of his brothers (some of whom outlived Billy)and their riotious lives which greatly grieved Billy.

Now the reason for the 2 stars--it is simply written (in my opinion) from a secular viewpoint, not written as from another believer in Christ.Don,t get me wrong this book is very complete, but it lacks any depth of spirituality about this great man Billy Sunday, and as such will hold back valuable spiritual lessons and guidance which was the reason for buying this book in the 1st place

So glad to read this...I've skimmed it a couple of times and felt guilty that it never grabbed me.

Well, most of Heaven is going to be a really big surpriseI am thinking it will be beyond our wildest dreams and their will be many surprises.I do not think I am going to listen to Randy Alcorn talk about Heaven.I am going to wait until I am actually there.

    Default They found the secret

This book "They found the secret" by V.Raymond Edman is a book all about the solution of why Christians lead defeated lives, saints with a new life in Christ but without power for service, with no fruit or evidence of God in our lives save that which we do on our own power,on a daily roller coaster of one day being close to God ,the other day blah.I myself was giving to God the Spirit a place of insignificance and without consciously doing it gave Him an inferior place in my life.I had through the years forgotten the Holy Spirit is just as needful as the other 2 persons of the trinity and just as precious.

I have always thought why if God Himself dwell,s within us why am I not more vibrant and powerful in the Lord.Have you ever wondered why when the disciples were with Jesus, they had such a lack of power ??,it was because while Jesus was with them the Holy Spirit could not be given.

This book is a collection of 20 men and women who explain their secret of a totally fulfilling, joy filled, powerful testimony of a person in Christ. After all The Holy Spirit is God,s gift to His church.

How many of us have ever prayed to the Holy Spirit ??--Don,t shut down on me now, hear me out. This is not tongue,s or charismatic mumbo jumbo.I was largely ignoring 1/3 of the Godhead because of fear of being labeled a fanatic,a charismatic who spoke in tongues and swung by the church chandelier.I realized in 1st Corinthians 6:19-20 where we are the temple of God---Jesus has a body,God the Father is on His throne but the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell each of us,and I was ignoring this vital fact.Bear in mind this power is only after you have experienced the new birth and have initially received the Spirit in your life to seal your salvation. This is not the Holy Ghost filling of your body, because He is already there. It is rather the acknowledgement of such a valuable resource in your life. At salvation you have received all the Holy Spirit you will ever need or ever use,He has all of you but do you have all of Him??

Other vital factors in finding out the secret are these:
1.Yield your life, your new life in Christ to God,your personality and will without reservation to God,accepting everything that comes your way that day as totally and utterly God direction for your life that day.
2.A continuing newness of God,s direction ,else your life will not stay "new"(all things become new)but get old.
    3. A complete and total confession of every known sin to God is necessary, and that daily since we believers are such leaky vessels we must every morning come before God to receive God,s direction and power for our life each day.

The result to obeying the above are these:
1.A sacred nearness to my Savior as the distance between me and God has been annihilated.
2.A sense of indescribable sweetness in Christ
3.A deeper sense of spiritual things
4.A surprising richness and fullness of the Bible.
5.A triumph over my sin and temptation comes much easier now.
6.A great increase of Spiritual power.

I just finished the two by Tim Lahaye & Craig Parshall (Edge of Apocalypse and Thunder of Heaven, I think that's right). Wow. Can't wait for the next one. I recommended them to my DH. Currently reading Faith Undone by Roger Oakland. Another wow, but in a way that almost makes me want to cry. Sometimes it's really hard to believe how Christians would follow some of this stuff. So much apostasy and deception.
and to wait for his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead—Jesus,
who rescues us from the coming wrath

The Coming Apocalypse by Dr. Renald Showers My dh and I had the great privilege of meeting this dear man of God and his wonderful wife just this week as he is speaking at a Bible conference about 45 minutes south of here. We've been driving down in the mornings to hear him speak.
