This Crosstalk looks at Dan Kimball, a man who is credited with kicking off the emergent church movement. In 2003 he wrote a book titled, The Emerging Church.
Special emphasis is put on Kimball advocates such as Rick Warren, Leonard Sweet, Rob Bell, Doug Pagitt and Brian McClaren.
The reason this program is so critical for listeners to hear and understand is because Brian McClaren, for example, denies the substitutionary atonement, a literal hell and the second coming of Christ. He’s also been a strong advocate for contemplative mysticism.
Dan Kimball has an orthodox doctrinal statement, yet his writings are giving these emergent leaders credibility. This credibility is building a bridge between unsuspecting Christians and religious teachings that are clearly occult at their source.
