The economy has been bailing out slothful people for years. The bailout didn't just start last 2 years we have been bailing out undeserving people for years. I wished I owned horses.

You know the the old saying about teaching a man to fish, it ought to be mandatory every welfare moocher have a garden, ride a horse and buggy, however: send a transport van from DSS to take to appt, learn to fish and hunt to eat. Every dead beat dad and mom in work camp to pay back the debt to America workers.

Rising oil prices is only one issue multiple issues starting with freeloaders. I know I see it everyday when I go to work people stealing from workers in America. There are very few and far in between people who actually deserve to be supported with assistance and I believe that is your senior citizens. The physically disabled, not mentally they need jobs to feel self worth and accomplishment and to learn to function in real life if not put them somewhere's that they can learn life skills.
Please explain the bolded parts. Thank you.

Wondering what's the definition of a senior citizen? There are wealthy senior citizens who receive Social Security benefits.

Not sure what all this has to do with gas prices.

Yesterday, the local gas station was 3.99 a gal for gas AND 4.09 for diesel fuel. This is in central CA where we drill for oil!

This is just so worrisome. I know we are supposed to trust God to provide for us but it's very hard for me to do that at times. I just want for my family to be safe and provided for.

    I don't drive.

Kelly, I am very limited in my range. If it's not on the bus, I don't go there. I'm glad that's been my whole life. If I want a real treat I might take a $10 cab every few months.

However, my bus ride only costs me $1.80 a day maximum.

Gas prices aren't as vital to me; but I have noticed in Houston: they don't do the board with the plastic numbers anymore.

Nope, the signs are all going DIGITAL! Very easy to push a button and raise prices now!

I expect the bus fares and cab fares to go up to. I also expect to see severe restrictions on the paratransit service. Currently someone can have up to 6 trips a day. Not for long, I bet.

Good thing I live on the bus route, with a handcart and the will to use it.

I was doing some random searching on gas prices around Houston and ended up finding a map of gas prices by county that includes the mainland 48 states, Alaska & Hawaii aren't shown, but seems to stay up to date.

    http://www.houstongasprices.com/Map_Gas_Prices.aspx

May be interesting to watch in the coming days & weeks. Also notice the legend on the bottom right corner of the map, ranging from cheapest possible prices in dark green (Under $3.06 - $2.70's in Colorado at the moment) to highest in dark red (over $3.64 - almost all of California minus 9 counties in the middle)

We're more fortunate than Europe. In London gas is at about nine dollars per gallon right now. The thing is, people in London use mass transit and either bike or walk much more than we are able to in the United States. We would not be able to sustain nine dollar-per-gallon gas.

Here in Northern VA last week gas was $3.19 a gallon, today it's $3.35. My dh just said last night that we need to be drilling for oil here in the States. I told him good luck with that because 0bama and his cronies have, thus far, not only ignored a Federal judge's overruling 0's moratorium on drilling, but has even had to find this administration guilty of being in contempt of court - which 0 is also ignoring. I told him 0 is allowing everybody and his brother to drill off our shores except us. Sorry, back on topic and off my soapbox now.

Yep. The layout of the US is very different than in Europe. The U.S. economy collapsed when gasoline prices approached $5 per gallon, and the world went in the same direction. I believe the recession has dragged on for so long because energy prices have remained relatively high... a little bit too high for most of us to be able to absorb without curtailing our spending in other areas.

Very good observation TT, There will be no extras, What I'am thinking is with that same $5.oo gal fuel, You can also start to look for higher fuel cost on your light bills as well.

I feel like our light bills will double or triple, as this increase comes, making it harder and harder to meet these two bills alone.

Our electricity bills tripled in 2008 and only went back down a tiny amount. If they double/triple again, which is what Obama. et al would like to see visavis carbon taxing/trading, a great many people would be made destitute... which I think is the desired effect for a lot of what is going on: Get almost all of us destitute and dependent on handouts, and then when our bellies are empty and we are desperate to feed and clothe and house our children... we'll accept whatever changes (transition to OWG) the powers that be insist are needed to help heal the economy.

The Middle Class !!!! Our Nation will not survive these increases in Gas, Electrical Bills and not last but most impotent Food.

Our Leaders ( O'Bama ), have yet to lift a finger to get on with drilling program, Well maybe they have, BUT with more and more restrictions, which raise's cost on to use .

This Fox News Story says it all, More Government Red Tape.

This story is a year old.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010...m-lifted-soon/

It doesn't take a Genius to figure out what they ( O'Bama) And his Clones are doing.

"I guess this is movement in the right direction, but it's painfully slow. It's clear that President Obama is going to preside over a continuing de facto moratorium for months or years, with new drilling held back to a fraction of previous levels
Oil is at $97.88.. spot. Threats to go much higher..

Will this be the Key That pushes us / world, over the edge to the OWG ? ...

Will this start the Riots ? It may if people can't feed themselfs...

Yes same here in Northern California, but I am not sure where to draw the line. Gas is averaging $3.69 a gallon for unleaded in the Sierra Nevada's.

In Houston, gas jumped up about 20-30 cents. I go to Kroger because it seems to be cheaper w/ a discount card. Highest Ive seen it so far is about 3.35...and thats inside the Beltway..outside and away from the highways is where its cheaper.

I'm reallllly considering getting a scooter/motorcycle...I'm also doing a tuneup on my truck to help w/ mileage. I've read online where you can turn any car into a hybrid or electric car. Its just the parts/materials that you'd have to worry about. Then getting it reregistered.

    STRONGLY CONSIDERING IT!!
