Gas is back "down" to $3.39 in the town where I work and $3.41 in the town where I live (both just south of Indy). Seems like things have calmed for the moment but I look for them to jump back up the next time someone in the Middle East sneezes.

We're at $3.93 for the cheapest gas in town, and well over $4.00 at the 'name brand' stations.
This is CA, where we pay more anyway, just a mid-size city with easy freeway access, but this is ridiculous!
I'm only going down to 3/4 of a tank, and it still costs more than $20.00 to top it off

It's $3.74 here. Someone told me today that it will be $5.00 by the end of May.

Knew I should have topped off my tank this weekend. It was anywhere between $3.48ish & $3.60something Saturday (here in KS).

I don't think unleaded being 5 dollars is a big deal. You can carpool, ride a bike, walk, downsize, or move. However, when diesel is 5 dollars a gallon or greater we are in trouble because it affects our food prices. I can avoid driving, but I cannot avoid eating. Diesel in the Sierra Nevada's is $4.55 at one station.

Uh, five dollar unleaded will kill those of us who live in rural communities. Biking, carpooling, and public transportation really are not options here. And the odds of us moving? Zip.

According to what I was taught in jr. high/high school economics, was that the price of any commodity was governed by the demand for that commodity. Can SOMEONE PLEASE tell me why the turmoil in the middle east/lybia/africa has ANYTHING AT ALL to do with the world wide demand for oil, and would cause the price to keep going up?????

I understand our ever growing national debt, and how because of that, inflation lowers the value of our dollar which would make things more expensive for us, but the price of oil is going up everywhere.

So please someone help me with this, or else I'm just going to assume the "prices" are "fixed" according to someone's or some group of peoples' desire!!!!

4-5-11, 3.59 to 3.69 in our area. And Giant upped the point requirements (and shortened the life of such points) to get gas discounts.

When this thread first began, prices around here seemed to level off at around $3.60. Last time I filled up, I saw it was over $3.70.

$3.89 in my little town and we live in a rural area. Ughh, we aren't going to be able to go any where if this keeps up. And when prices on gas goes up the price of food goes up so pretty soon we will be eating rice and................rice. Let the good times roll.

It's a big deal where I live.Especially since my daughter is now driving my old truck to work which is a gas hog. She cannot car pool, ride a bike, or move. Her job is over 30 miles away.

I wish you were running is 2012.You would definately have my vote, and there are plenty of czars here at RR that you can hire when you fire OB current czars.

Umm, $5.00 would be a very big deal to me. I can't "move" or "walk" or "ride a bike" so I am praying that gas will not go that high.
