    Default Heaven, where is it?

I apologize beforehand if this is not the correct place to post this. Question is: is it accurate to say that heaven is in another dimension?
    Thank you!

Thank you, I did see "got questions" page before posting, but I am not sure it answered my question. It says:
But when the Creator is said to be “in heaven,” the thought is that He exists on a different plane from us, rather than in a different place.
So, is it like another dimension?

I think the distinction is on where God is rather than where heaven is. Since God is Spirit and can be present everywhere at once, He isn't limited to a physical place or time. Heaven, however, is a real place and the descriptions of it certainly sound like a physical place with the throne, bowls, flying with wings (implies air) the tabernacle and temple being shadows of the real thing in heaven. And John decribes the New Jerusalem in great physical detail which will be lowered onto the new earth Revelation 21:1-2, prepared in heaven. If it's on our physical plane of existence, it certainly doesn't seem to be within our solar system as it's not a place an astronaut or probe has ran into. I know 'heavens' in genesis for instance refer more to our atmosphere. This is pretty rambly and i'm sure randy alcorn's book on heaven would be a much better resource.

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:5

We know that heaven is above the stars, sun, and moon. In II Corinthians 12:2-4 talks about a man caught up to the third heaven. So this indicates there are 3 heavens. I believe God the Father & the son sits on the right hand of God on the throne is the top heaven which is #3. Think of an elevator that has 3 floors. We know that heaven is way above us past what we know as the sky.

In order for the notion of 'timelessness' to make sense, some other sort of 'dimension' would be necessary, IMO. Though that word (dimension) isnt quite big enough.
The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

Another dimension? I don't know. I have heard many different ideas but I believe that it is just something we don't know at this time. Interesting question tho.

I think in the Psalms or OT passages it says that God sits enthroned above the circle of the earth. IMO heaven is a real place and from the surface of the earth the direction is always up so beyond the moon, stars and other galaxies sounds right to me. In scripture hell/pit/abyss is always down, I suppose as far away from heaven as it can be.
I not real sure about another dimension but I've learned that in Jewish culture/history time is thought of as being circular, while non-Jews tend to think of time as linear. Circular makes lots of sense when you think of rotations of earth and repetition of seasons, events, etc.
Ph 3:15 (paraphrased):...And if on some point you and I think differently, that too God will make clear to us. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

I don't know if the mormons believe in 3 heavens or not, but the scripture I gave from The Bible mentions the third heaven.

Are there different levels of heaven? http://www.gotquestions.org/levels-heaven.html

Paul is not saying that there are three heavens or even three levels of heaven. In many ancient cultures, people used the term “heaven” to describe three different “realms”—the sky, outer space, and then a spiritual heaven. Although the terms are not specifically biblical, these are commonly known as the terrestrial, telestial, and celestial heavens. Paul was saying that God took him to the “celestial” heavens, as in the realm in which God dwells. The concept of different levels of heaven may have come in part from Dante’s Divine Comedy in which the poet describes both heaven and hell as having nine different levels. The Divine Comedy, however, is a fictional work. The idea of different levels of heaven is foreign to Scripture.
