He does have a new book out but I haven't read it yet. It's called The Case for the Real Jesus in which he addresses recent attacks on the identity of Jesus.

He was an atheist and journalist with a law degree who spent 2 years investigating the claims of Jesus' deity, and came to the conclusion that it was undeniably true. He spoke on all the evidence that led him to that conclusion and then his subsequent conversion. It's a fascinating testimony if you've never heard it.

Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to him. I hope there were some nonbelievers who heard him because he is great at addressing the atheist's questions and objections, especially since he used to be one himself.

Not to discourage you in anyway but I wanted to throw out this thread about Lee Strobel in the Apostasy forum.

Sing4Him is really well researched in this topic so she may be able to provide more feedback too.

I’m not familiar with Willow Creek so I can’t comment on that, and I will admit that my apostasy radar went off when Lee mentioned he was once with Saddleback but he is not with them anymore. He was with them for a year and a half but left them back in 2002. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that was even before PDL.

When I went to hear him speak, there wasn’t anything contemplative or emergent or new-age, etc. It was all about his journey from skepticism to saving faith in Christ. Many people are “thinkers”. These are the intellectual, apologetic, analytical type, and Lee Strobel has the ability to reach them because he has that same type personality and used to seek answers to the same questions they are asking.

His testimony is how he went from unbelief to faith that Christ was indeed the Son of God, the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Once he investigated and came to his intellectual conclusion, then he realized he was at a crossroads and had a decision to make about what to do about it. He said he got on his face before God and repented for his sins, and accepted Christ. He talked about the radical transformation in his life, how he used to live an atheistic, immoral, selfish lifestyle and was so mean and violent that his daughter was so afraid of him that she would run to her room and hide whenever he came home. Once he came to saving faith in Jesus Christ, he talks about the ways in which is life was changed.

He gave many third person testimonies as well – his father-in-law among others. The one thing that struck a chord with me was how the recurring theme was not to give up praying and reaching out to those loved ones who are lost. Many of the testimonies he gave were about people who eventually were saved after sometimes years of persistent prayer on their behalf. Even in his own case, it was his wife who was praying for him the whole time he was searching. Then the two of them would pray regularly for his father-in-law who wanted absolutely nothing to do with God and it wasn’t open for discussion. He had a serious stroke and the doctor said he would likely suffer a series of strokes and one of them would eventually take his life. Lee and his wife continued to pray for him and in his very last coherent, intelligible conversation, the FIL’s heart had been softened to the point he knew he needed God, and he finally repented and accepted Christ. Soon afterwards he had another stroke which killed him.

Lee was talking to us about how important it is to persist in prayer for the unsaved even when we don’t see anything happening. I was particularly convicted of this because there is someone in my life whose salvation I’ve prayed for many years. If ever there was a lost cause, this person would seem to be it. He keeps getting further and further away from God. I prayed for years and guess I had sort of given up, thinking “What’s the point? He serves mammon and like the rich publican, he will never give that up. He’ll never change. He’s too far gone.” This reminded me I need to be faithful in prayer for this person despite what it looks like in the natural.

I really enjoyed his talk, and there wasn’t anything unbiblical about it. As believers, we should always use caution and discernment when we hear anyone speak and Lee is no exception. But I will say there wasn’t anything heretical that came out when I heard him give his testimony. If there was, I would certainly mention it. I'm the type who prefers to err on the side of caution, especially in spiritual matters.

I just wanted to add that if Lee Strobel is indeed involved with the Contemplative Prayer Movement, I'm not defending him and don't condone that. But I personally saw no evidence of that when I heard him speak.

Good to hear. I don't know much about Lee so I cannot attest to any of this. I just wanted to share the Apostsay thread b/c I had seen his name mentioned there before. It seems that most teachers/evangelists seem to get their names in threads in that forum even if their current behavior and actions do not show any apostasy. Sometimes I think we're too quick to judge.

    God Bless!

and for some reason they arent mentioning Lee Strobel coming to Omaha

    http://www.heartlandgatekeeper.org/i...&id=4&Itemid=1

    has their list of events

I wonder why it isnt mentioned since it has been known for months he is coming to town.

BTW KCRO isnt mentioning it either at http://kcro.com/calendar.aspx

I would call them both and ask them. Maybe they can still add it to their list of events so that if people look online, they will see it.

    Here are the numbers:

KCRO (402) 422-1600 (I called this morning to try to get info. for you but didn't reach a "live" person so I didnt leave a message).

Heartland Gatekeeper Contact: Irene Jensen (402) 926-2633

If these events aren't advertised, there won't be a big turn-out, and if there is not a big turn-out, they might not want to have more events like this in the future. It's a bit of a "catch 22". That's why I'd call.
