Bible See the Face of God after we die?

    Hey all,

I was wondering if any of you knew and could direct me in the Bible about what it says about us being able to see the Face of God after we die? I was sitting outside and this question came to me just now. I know when we die and go to Heaven we will definitely see Jesus (right?), but I was wondering if we are able to see His Father's Face too?

    Thanks!

    This verse comes to mind:
1Cr 13:12 For now we see through a glass , darkly ; but then face to face : now I know in part ; but then shall I know even as also I am known .

    This one comes to mind...

    Job 19
23 “Oh, that my words were recorded,
that they were written on a scroll,
24 that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead,
    or engraved in rock forever!
25 I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
26 And after my skin has been destroyed,
    yet in my flesh I will see God;
27 I myself will see him
with my own eyes—I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
Yes Job, your words were recorded.
Don't panic! Just be Rapture Ready.

    Joel 3:2

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

I know Jesus has a resurrected human body, but do you guys think that even though God is a Spirit, that He (Father and Holy Spirit) have faces?

God is Spirit (John 4:24), but, Jesus, who is God, said in John 14:7:

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

As I understand it, we look on Jesus and see the face of God.

Regarding the Holy Spirit, who doesn't have resurrected flesh, I look at John 14:16.
Rom. 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom. 8:28 God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Thanks so much, EarsToHear, that's how I see it too - Jesus is the Face of God.

Ran across this verse this morning Psalms11:7--For the Lord is righteous, He loves justice; upright men will see His face.

    This is NIV
John 1:29 Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world

Revelation22:17 Both the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!"

I thought that man is the image of God (the Father), so I always imagined He looks like us but of course 1000x more glorious . And then there is the Holy Spirit, which I always thought was the Spirit of God, and then of course our Lord, Jesus.

Am I completely out to left field with that one?

This is a sobering discussion. (not that I'm not sober)

Yes, we will see God, in His fullness.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Revelation 22:3-4 The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve him. They shall see his face.

Ps. 17:15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness

Revelation 22:17a The Spirit and Bride are now saying, "Come!" The ones who hear are now saying, "Come!" The ones who thirst are now saying, "Come!" Come LORD Jesus !

See God, yes, but these verses don't necessarily mean God the Father and God the Holy Spirit have one face or different faces than Jesus's resurrected human face.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
    Doesn't say "see God's face."

Revelation 22:3-4 The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve him. They shall see his face.
The throne of God and of the Lamb Jesus and His servants will serve Him and see His (not their) face.

Jesus said if we see Him, we see God.

Ps. 17:15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness
We will awaken in Jesus's righteousness (our salvation) and in His likeness (sanctified, being transformed into the image of His Son.)

God is omnipresent, a Spirit, He is not in a body.

He may present to us a form and even present to us a face, but I don't believe a spirit has a human-like face as an essential matter of it's being.

Just my own two cents. We'll soon see for ourselves, though.

It's an esoteric moment beyond human perspective.

I believe as well, it is a difficult subject. God is bigger than we can ever fully see, we will see what we will see, but it cannot be in full, imo. The scriptures tell us that Christ is the "the express image of his person", but also that God is spirit.

I think when Jesus said, "....., for they will see God", to me that is saying we will see God, so I can only assume that He meant His face too. Maybe I'm wrong. I really don't know. I sure hope we get to see His face someday

I know that in the Old Testament, He "hid his face" from Moses. Of course I"m only speculating, but I would think that because when we're still in our physical form, our flesh cannot fathom the face of God and we would die.

Remember in Isaiah (correct me if I'm wrong), when Isaiah was horrified because he thought he was going to die from seeing God's face?

Maybe these are too deep of discussions to have, and I am sorry. It was just a thought that literally popped into my head yesterday as I was sitting on my deck enjoying the beautiful day

No problem and no need to be sorry, HearIt! It's interesting to think about the things of God and to discuss them with one another.

I think we've just about exhausted what is Scriptural and imo it's about time to close this thread. We'll see for ourselves soon enough!
