That is great, very cute... i love the expression on the snowman's face
I am so enjoying all of your ideas and finished product photos. This is a fun thread. My mom made all of our clothes growing up, there are 3 of us, all girls, plus all my doll clothes. I was the only one that liked dolls and I played with them all the time, along with doll houses and cut outs. I was the girly one with a touch of tomboy on the side as I loved to play sports.
Anyway, I wish I watched my mom and learned how to sew when I was a youngster. On Easter we were the cream of the crop, my mom's talents were unsurpassed and she knew how to stretch the dollar.
Beccasue, my mom was/is left handed also and she always said the patterns were made backwards. Ha!
Thanks for sharing everyone. We appreciate it. :-)
Is Jesus your co-pilot? If so, then you better switch seats!
Joyjoyjoy what a wonderfully creative and cute pillow. I haven't been sewing at all for weeks. And my projects are just piling up but I'll get there yet.
Hey, ladies! I just wanted to update since it's been a few months since I posted on this thread. I started my own business from home, and have been making Mommy and Baby stuffed elephants, wallets, scarves, clothes, and hoping to take a class on alterations and tailoring very soon.
Sewing is so much fun!!! And when I can earn a small income it makes it so much better. I really enjoy seeing everyone else's projects! I wish I could upload a couple of photos to share, but I'm not sure how. :/

A friend of mine just got a sewing machine, and we are looking for ideas/tips as to where to find material that won't break the bank. I've already mentioned secondhand stores... any other suggestions or favorite places to shop for all kinds of material?
Thanks to sweeetlilgurlie on Narniaweb for the sig
Thanks Icebear, I've tried making my own with duct tape, but it isn't ideal. The shape isn't entirely flat, the tape wrinkles etc, and unless you use mountains of tape the form can distort when it's being stuffed. Then you still need to make a stand for it. There are a lot of pros and cons. I've seen other methods online and some are complicated. Like making a plaster model of yourself. Now that sounds messy and kinda weird. Since I love sewing, I'd like to spring for a good dress form that will adjust for me if my weight fluctuates. I'm trying to lose weight.
Overstock regularly has dress forms on sale, so I think I will just keep monitoring the sales everywhere until I find one that's a great buy. There's a Big Lots here in Lakeland, maybe I can find one there.
By the way I did check EBay but I couldn't find any online. Those on Craigslist were either mannequin store forms or too far away from here to make it worth my while to travel there to check out the dress form.
I love Hancocks Fabric. I have read of people buying from Fabric.com, but I have never ordered from there.
Tell your friend to be on the look out for bed sheets at the thrift stores or yard sales. Some have beautiful print and are usually cheap. A bed sheet gives quite a lot of fabric.
