I've got a compound bow and thought I'd use it to hunt moose but don't seem to ever have time to practice so I can pass a test we have to take here in Alaska before we can bow hunt. I have hunted grouse with bow and arrow successfully. The older I get the less likely it is that I'll be hunting anything... though I still like the idea of having a freezer full of game meat.

Default Lady Bowhuntress in da haus....

When I was with my ex in 2001, I was New England Women's Champion; after a very painful break up in 2002, I put my bow down (Darton Yukon) and haven't done a 3D course since; I've shot it a few times, but it needs some refurbishing and more arrows, and money is so tight right now that I might have to wait until the Spring.

I have never hunted nor plan to hunt; I'd rather observe God's creation in all its beauty and grace, and allow it to live. I have nothing against bow hunters or game dinners, but I could never take another creature's life. Foam targets, that's a different story, but real flesh and blood, never. I'd rather see them frolic

I lost my bow once. Went looking for it everywhere. Now that's some kind of bow hunting let me tell 'ya.

    Know what?

I found it in the last place I looked.

    Yep!
Been bowhunting for about 15 years now. Shoot competitively all summer. Don't hardly pickup the rifle anymore.
Bow season started today here in Missouri, but I didn't get to go, but I'll be out there tomorrow if it isn't raining too hard.

Good luck to all this season, and be safe!

This is a sore subject with me. My parents, and all their in-laws and friends, were extreme bowhunhers for decades. My Dad hunted with Fred Bear up in northern Michigan. He even made his own arrows and bowstrings. And over the years my Mom and Aunt actually harvested more deer than my Dad and his brother.
But when they tried to pass the love of hunting deer with a bow onto me, well... I failed to catch that pass. Now I sorely regret it. But atleast archery was our family hobby when we were kids and I learned my way around a recurve.

First, I have to get a fiddle with a viola neck and violin body....short arms, stubby fingers...

Then I'll hunt for a bow....

    **DS is great at archery.

Unfortunately I've encountered too many "pegged" deer.

You have to take a test? Written test and shooting test? Questions like what antifreeze do you use on your cams and string?

Hoyt Maxxis here Hoyt Sierra tec for the son. 1 hog kill stalking them on the ground what a rush! I love hunting wild boar i;ve been charged by a 350lb boar with tusks clackking and dirt flying. I shot and he ducked the arrow, I beleive that hog had been shot at by a bow before. I love tracking them into the Altamaha River Swamp.
