    Default The love dare

    Has anyone done it? Has it improved your marriage or u as a spouse? I watched bits and pieces of fireproof one day and what I heard of it loved the idea. So yesterday I was browsing books and seen the love dare which is based on the movie fireproof. I bought it. I know my husband won't participate in it but I think it would be completely challenging but also show him I am truly dedicated to our marriage and life together. I mist also confess and hope that it will somehow help him see Christ thru me better. But I just wanted to know if anyone has done it and what they thought and what their experience was

    Perhaps you can share the basics of the Love Dare, I would hope it includes setting yourself aside and risking hurt.
    But it should focus on Jesus and His provisions.

    Proverbs 5:14-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

    14 I was on the verge of total ruin,
    In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”
    15 Drink water from your own cistern,
    And running water from your own well.
    16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad,
    Streams of water in the streets?

    Job 14:7-9 New King James Version (NKJV)

    7“For there is hope for a tree,
    If it is cut down, that it will sprout again,
    And that its tender shoots will not cease.

    8 Though its root may grow old in the earth,
    And its stump may die in the ground,

    9 Yet at the scent of water it will bud
    And bring forth branches like a plant.

    Habakkuk 3:17-18 New King James Version (NKJV)

    17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
    Nor fruit be on the vines;
    Though the labor of the olive may fail,
    And the fields yield no food;
    Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
    And there be no herd in the stalls—
    18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
    I will joy in the God of my salvation.

    Ok the back of the book explains it better then me:

    "the love dare is a 40 day challenge for husbands and wives to understand and practice unconditional love. Whether your marriage is hanging by a thread or healthy and strong.

    40 days????????

    Its a life committment when we come to Jesus.
    Ok just stating the obvious. It is a shame we have to be challenged/dared to love our spouses.

    Lets get back to our First Love - Christ, and all these things will be added.

    It needs to be a moment-by-moment, day-by-day thing. In Jesus' strength, dying to the selfish old nature.

    40 days implies give it a try and if it doesn't meet expectation just forget it.
    I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
    For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor;
    no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

    Ok, so I was reading through the little chapters or whatever and the challenge of the day in the book..yes it does imply "try it if it doesn't work forget it" but i don't think that is the point of the book. With each new daily challenge you have to keep using the challenge from the day before, and i think from what i'm understanding from it is its not so much a challenge like a lot of u are thinking but more like a habit to make...it's christian based (otherwise i wouldn't have bought it) it takes 2 weeks to make or break a habit so the 40 days makes sense. I'm not saying rely soley on the book and not Christ. Not at all..i have fully given my marriage to God and our marriage isn't bad or in trouble or anything but i think it's a great concept. not everyone knows how to love unconditionally.. and that is what it's about.. unconditional love. I do love him unconditionally but sometimes like normal people i do struggle with the unconditional part and sometimes u do take your marriage and spouse for granted either on purpose or accident due to the day day tasks of lives and family and children. and i wasn't looking to be attacked i was curious if anyone had used it before and if they had results. I know the title makes u jump to conclusions it did me but i read the back and bought it.

    Whatsoever things.....

    If it gives you tools to grow, with sound Biblical advice, .... Go for it.

    Life applications, based-founded-anchored on Biblical Truth, is always helpful.
