Thread: Pope's health declining

Revelation 22:18-19 says, "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book."

Does St. Malachy's prophecy add to the book of Revelation?

I'll take that. So can people prophesy, just not about the end times? Revelation was given to John, but Paul often talks about the end times. Obviously Paul is Scripture so I'm not sure that counts. Just asking question, that verse is obviously pretty straight forward.

What do we do if the next Pope is named Peter?

Well....Our current resident at the WH is named Obama, so a Peter as the Pontifex Maximus probably wouldn't change much.
Our mission as Christians wouldn't change, but we're probably out of timeouts in this game soon regardless....

I'm not sure it does add. If the catholics had added the words of Malachy to the book of The Revelation, then it would have been added. Prophecy is listed as a gift of the spirit as surely as discernment is. I am not saying that it is true prophecy, but I will not automatically dismiss it as false prophecy either. Unlike Nostradamus, Cayce etc etc who have had false prophecies and are measured by Biblical standards as false prophets--I would like to know if examples exist of this man making false prophecies. The Bible is clear--if it is 100% accurate it is of God, right? ( and I don't mean like the convaluted ways they twist generic words like quatrains into specific events--those people on those History Chanel shows are just whack)

Hi, I registered awhile ago but lurk alot. Anyway I was thinking about this too after I heard Hal Lindsey talk about this prophecy. I think the RCC could easily go out of their way to pick a man named Peter to be the Pope and I have a feeling they probably will!

Only God knows the truth but I think that if the prophecy does end up to be correct, it could be one of two things, either this was a demonic "revelation" meant to tie in with the ultimate plan of Satan for our world (not saying he knows when the rapture will happen but that he has his plan and is going along with it as he pleases all by the allowance of God Almighty) and that God has also allowed to coincide with the end times for whatever reason OR Saint Malachy got a word of Prophecy straight from The Lord. Either way, if it does come to pass, it will have been allowed by God.

At the same time, I also wonder what kind of "tribulation" the statement was referring to....the whole statement for Peter the Roman is just so eerie especially when you know it's concerning the RCC in particular.

Anyway, during the tribulation, We'll be with The Lord and we'll know the truth of all this and of all things...I can't wait!

God bless you all! I love this board!

Ok , I don't know much about this St. Malachy . I do know that we can only trust God's Word . I would like to ask , though , who gave the dreams to Pharoah , to Joseph , to the imprisoned baker and cup-bearer , to Nebuchadnezzar , and others . Were all of these men 'men of God' ? My point is , God is sovereign over all His creation . He can reveal knowledge to whomever He pleases . Our problem is , we don't know everything God is doing or has done . We just know that He cannot lie nor contradict Himself as revealed in Scripture . Every word or deed is judged by the Bible . As far as St. Malachy's prophecies go , if they aren't 100% accurate they're not of God . And if they are being fulfilled 100% , then fine ... our faith is in Christ alone !

John Paul II was a Mary-worshiping all roads heretic. The current pope said Biblical faith is not necessary for Salvation. Neither them worked to remove Catechism 841. After all that, nothing more need be said. Stay away; stay very far away from them and their "prophets".

    Best post of the thread!
Christians should be very very careful when it comes to Catholicism. I say that as a recovering Cathoholic!

    You are right Florian.

"Peter the Roman" is a recent retranslation of the original prediction that just didn't work: "Magnum Adventum (Great Adventure): Papal name: "PeeWee the Herman".

Seriously, if you look at the entire list of Malachy's "predictions", they are so vague as to be no different from Nostradamus-type "postdictions": they can be twisted to fit any intended meaning.

For what its worth-- the cardinals will not elect a man named Peter. The way it works is that after a person is selected as the next pope-he is immediately Pope ( unlike our POTUS who waits around 2 months to take office). After the selection the new pope goes to a quiet room and makes an announcement about whiat name he will choose to be Titled as...for example, Joe Smith could be selected as the next pope and then make the decision himself to be named, Pope Peter II..or Pope Poindexter the First..whatever. They won't need to select a man named Peter--the Pope rarely to never uses his actual birth name...

I remember reading about these St. Malachy "prophecies" where a pope from the order of Pius had a vision of the last pope being from his order and would leave Rome stepping over the bodies of dead priests.

I remember reading the same thing, Chris. And I agree with Rapture444 and Florian.... to be very careful regarding Catholicism.
Now when these things begin to take place, look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near Luke21:28

Thank you to you and Florian9 for commenting on the comment (ack, lol).

A bit more info for those who don't remember, John Paul II organized the 1986 Assissi conferance where he had every pagan along with the Dalai Lama all "praying to the same god" (little "g" on purpose).

Will this not be a selling point of the Antichrist and the False Prophet? I think it will be, at least in the beginning.

    Default Can the pope resign?

OK I thought I remembered hearing that there had been resignations of popes in the past so here is what Wikki says about it. I thought that they could only resign due to Medical reasons but according to this article that is not the case (OK it comes from wikki so it might not be correct ).

I havent studied St. Malachy so I don't know how accurate he has been. If in fact he has been 100 percent accurate so far, with only one remaining, then he is a true profit. The Bible says that any true profit will be 100 percent accurate. The Bible also says that in the last days that young men would have visions(something we have not really seen so far). If we are as close to the last days as I think we are then we should start to see modern day prophets. What will make it hard is that there will also be many false prophets so discernment will be critical. To say that all prophecy has already been written and that there will be no new prophecy is not biblical in my opinion.

I think what this is saying is that you can not change the word of God by adding or taking away from its clear meaning as it is written, not that there can't be any new prophecies or prophets. It does say that in the last days that young men would once again have visions (sorry, can't remember the verse).
