Tsk tsk No more Church in public school buildings in New York City on Sunday's

    http://online.worldmag.com/2012/01/1...ng-in-protest/

Arresting Pastor's and Christians' who are praying a protest?
This looks to me like an Islamic Initiative Mayor Bloomberg and the city of NY has implemented. Those schools are not occupied on Sunday's
and have helped the inner city by using these buildings to house worshipers. They feed the hungry, they help the sick and they help get
kids off the streets , but I guess the government wants this job all to themselves.

Arresting and detaining Pastors who quietly go off and pray?.........Can't help but wonder what the New York Police do when they find Muslims in the middle of prayers and...................well..................New York seems to be getting just a bit too freedom busting for my tastes....kinda like it's not even part of the U.S. anymore.......more like the "Princedom of Bloomburg"....I won't be visiting there anytime soon.

Did Bloomburg have ancestors in high places in Sodom? That didn't end very well. History always repeats.

I am not a lawyer so correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the courts have held that if a public institution makes its facilities available for rental by secular organizations then it is illegal discrimination to refuse their use by religious organizations solely on the basis that they are conducting religious activities.

You are right ehbowen but the devil is in the details - in this case, the subsequent enforcement of the law. A public school, for instance, may lease space to a church for use at time when school is not in session, provided that there is no appearance that the school is endorsing a particular religion, or making it difficult for those of other religions to perfom services in the same manner. And there's the rub: someone will always use the misunderstood "separation of church and state" concept either to say none of this should be going on at all - or that those of their own "faith" were "discriminated against" in some way.

Oh, for the days of Little House (and Church) on the Prarie.

    I guess I'm a cynic.

As I read the title, I thought THEY COULD DO THIS? Until this year? Wow!

My view would be that it would be better for a church to rent private space on Sundays; I know a martial arts place that does that, and a warehouse. In addition to not dealing with the government, they are helping the local economy.

I don't think any of us expect the government to make things easier for Christians, right? So this was bound to happen.

I'm completely shocked it took this long!
