Campiing and cooking on the grill with the temps at about 110 in the shade. Okay. so I exaggerated. slightly. ANyway, we're barbecuing some butterfly pork chops, I'm opening a can of Grilling Beans, Steaming some brocoli, cauliflower and carrots, slicing tomatoes fresh from the garden and finishing off with watermelon. I don't know what my husband plans on drinking, but I think I'll just have water. It's to hot for most soft drinks as far as I'm concerned

I had Smithfield BBQ for lunch. This included chopped BBQ pork, beans, potato salad, hush puppies and ice tea. Suffice it to say, I am satiated!

I like history myself. I have been reading 'George Washington: The Indispensable Man'. I might get a book on Nathanael Greene or John Adams next.

Here is where Smithfield BBQs are located. I ate at the Morrisville, NC one -

Home made Boston baked beans from the recipe seen in my previous post.

Note to self -- that was 2 teaspoons of salt, not 2 tablespoons!

i tried to make baked beans for tonight too... but i think the beans were old or my crock pot is. it is taking them 2 as long to cook as usual and they still aren't done. i think the crock pot isn't heating up fast enough. they are in the oven now, but still baking very slow.

the Hubby bought me some Weaver buffalo wings that i can heat in the oven a bit before the beans should finally be done. they will be nice with ranch dressing and steamed summer squash from the garden.

Ok, so... since the beans are STILL NOT DONE

I got some pre-browned ground beef out of the freezer, nuked it into thawedness, dumped into a pot with some cans of red kidney beans and stewed tomatoes and a couple packets of chili seasoning.

So, they had chili and i had my Weaver Buffalo wings.... a little later than usual (and i am usually late making supper if i;m ready at 5 or 6 nobody is hungry so i don't bother till after 6.5) anyway... they all are happy.
