last night i made an egg drop chicken soup with frozen leaf spinach, and golden flax seeds. the flax seeds make a decent starch free replacement for rice- not exactly identical but it sort of hints in the direction. the seeds also release a sort of thickening substance that gives the broth a silkier consistency.

i'll probably grill some tilapia in the george foreman tonight, dill, lemon, S&P. yum!

Spaghetti with meat sauce fir dinner

For lunch I made some black-eyed peas with cured ham and collards. Added some bacon fat and some shallots and onions, and some apple-cider vinegar for some 'zip'. Also added some Ham bouillon. This Yankee learned some things when he lived in SC.

The Ham boullion is wonderful stuff. You can find it in some Asian shops, and probably some Latins ones too. Made by Knorr.
