Default Christians in the spot light

I posted this here because of the following. We all know about Tim Tebow and his open faith and the publicity that revcieved. Now there is up and coming Jeremy Lin, an Asian-American in the nba making waves and bringing "Linsanity" all over. He is also an outspoken Christian. My point here is, is it possible God is placing people with faith in the public view more now because the end is near? In doing so the gospel and His name is being mentioned on everyday radio and tv and I think it is awesome! Thoughts on this?

    That would be awesome.

I do, when I hear of "celebrity Christians", feel a terrible burden to pray for them, to protect their witness. No one cares if a regular celebrity commits adultery, lies to the police, etc... but God forbid a Christian makes a tiny misstep.

Having said that, since my husband and I are very outspoken in our faith, I am constantly asking him to protect OUR witness.

I personally don't see a need for adulation of people.

Isaiah 6:8 I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

Interesting thought I had the same thoughts the other day during Whitney Houston's funeral. I did not intend to watch it, but during the 4 hour coverage, may of the folks were preaching about Jesus and sharing scripture and I noticed these were broadcast on all the MSM stations and I actually found myself on the edge of my seat (or bed actually) talking to the TV telling them to keep preaching it!! You have to figure that there had to be some unbelievers (or fence-sitters) watching and listening with it broadcast world wide and I was there praying and praying that it would work in the hearts of the all those in the world listening. Did anyone else feel this too?

Yes! I do too...It's one after another lately and it's wonderful
I also feel the urge to uphold them in prayer as they are soooo much in the spotlight and a "target" for the evil one.

Very well could be. I am joyed when a pro athlete shares his faith openly. Down here in DFW, Texas we have Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers who dose'nt hide his faith in Christ. When he goes to bat they play a christian song in the stadium. He really has been a positive influence on young kids in the area and Im sure the whole country.

I think it's great that Jeremy Lin is out there in the spotlight, and I have been praying for him. I also pray for Tim Tebow, my pastor, ministry people I know.
Pray for protection from temptation, discernment, etc. When a Christian is in the limelight, you just know that Satan is after that person and the world is too. There are way too many people who take delight in bringing down an upright person. It seems to affirm their beliefs that everyone is corrupt.

What an interesting though. Let's not forget the players in the political spotlight too. Re-election time is coming upon us and I hear a lot of Biblical phrases coming from the mouth of Rick Santorum. This might just be what this world needs, more opportunity for people to wake up.

He is--but his views fall way more in line than the current liar-in-chief. If conservative Christians don't stick together in this election we're gonna lose this country.

I have thought it was rather interesting, not so much about these people being famous and Christian, but that the media lately has been putting so much focus and emphasis on their faith, detailing it.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Default Maybe there will be a revival before we are raptured?

I know a lot of people disagree with a world wide revival in the last days but... You never know?

Maybe not revival, so much as clarity, and having to make an actual choice in their lives to follow Jesus, or not to follow him.

A friend sent me a link to Franklin Graham being grilled on Morning Joe. They kept pestering him with "Is Obama a Christian?" "Is Santorum a Christian?" etc. [it was very funny when near the end one of the badgerers said, "You seem to devote a lot of time to deciding who is a Christian or not." ]

I hope that a lot of people are beginning to wonder, What is a Christian? Am I a Christian just because I go to church every Christmas Eve and sing carols?

I absolutely felt this twinsmommy. This was a Homegoing celebration and all the Glory went to our Lord!!
The nation was brought to church and they heard Jesus name. I was jumping up and down in my spirit knowing millions of people were tuned in. Even Oprah was in attendance. I pray she comes back to the true Faith she was raised in. What he intended to harm God intended for good. How many people turned to Jesus after watching that service!! Romans 8:28 comes to mind here. Rest In Peace with Jesus, Whitney.

There have been other Christians in the limelight before that were very open about their faith.

    Kurt Warner comes to mind.

This is because, IMHO, they want to catch one of the faith in a real devastating boo-boo; then they have their 80pt headline tailor made!
Just like all else though, God can/will use this to accomplish His will.

I agree that clarity is being shown.

There is no room anymore (if there ever was) for fence strattlers.

There's also Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees, among others. I think it's awesome that these athletes are standing up for Jesus. We know how much children and young people as well as adults look up to them and what better role model for our kids than Christian athletes? We need to really pray for these guys because as someone else said, the media is watching them closer because of their profession of faith in Jesus Christ and just waiting for them to show the least little crack so they can point their fingers at them and ridicule them. That is just the way of the world these days and it's to be expected..but a lot of people are hearing about Jesus in a positive way that might not hear about him that way otherwise.

Strange how these 2 NFL QB's don't get ridiculed for their faith but Tim Tebow has been mocked and degraded
