In a world of increased audits, tracking, etc., it's become useful for companies to store more information in the code, such as where the product originates from, the type of product, etc. In the company I work for, we see a problem with expired product being sold in unapproved venues. With the QR barcode, we're able to track the origins of the product and catch whoever is selling them illegally.

There's nothing sinister about the QR codes themselves, they just look different than what we're used to seeing. But just like any other modern technology, application by the Antichrist is possible, and I think quite probable. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mark of the Beast uses a combination of RFID chip and QR barcodes. I guess we'll see (or won't see) soon enough.
I agree. I remember when bar codes became popular in the 70's there was a big uproar about how it's the mark of the beast and I see the same hype now. Like KBF said they are neither good nor bad. It's just a different way of storing information. Could the beast use them to mark his followers...yes but that doesn't mean that we need to be scared of them now.

Right now I have a Norton QR scanner on my phone. I also had a QR maker app installed on my phone. I was trying to make a QR code that leads to a web site that tells them about Jesus. I can do it but I can't find a way to put it in my sig. I was going to put it in all of my sigs on all the forums I belong to. Some forums frown on evangelizing links so this was going to be my way around it. I'll figure out how to do it soon enough.

In the next 4 years this is the only "change" I'm looking forward to...

LoudRam, here is a link to a website that generates QR codes and then allows you to download whichever image type you would like (.jpg, .gif, etc), or you can download all image types in a zip file. Once you have the images, you should be able to insert it into any signature line that accepts .jpg or .gif images.

QR codes can be useful as witnessing tools, as well. Place a QR code on the back of business cards that links to end-time sites, new believer information, etc. Just because a technology can (and most likely will) be used by the Antichrist doesn't mean that it can't be used to further the Kingdom while we're still here!

    Have a blessed day!

I will have to think this one through some more... Interesting point though. They do have smart inks now that are conductive. Bottom line is we all know some sort of MOTB is coming at mid-trib and I think we can all agree the technology to make that happen is already here.

    .
Exactly IC, I don't believe anyone foresees this particular technology in its present form being the MOTB. However I believe that, as one poster observantly noted, we are slowly desensitized as a society toward things. The more that markings, tattoos, piercings, injections, and all adornments to the human body that can't be taken off when we hop in the shower- the more that these things become commonplace and not just accepted by the masses but almost societal norm. This then paves the way for acceptance of the MOTB.

I see the QR's as way too rudimentary also. However like Buzzard said, the only thing needed to make it work is a way to turn it into a unique identifier ( non-copyable) for each individual. Large bytes of info need not be in the mark/tattoo itself..just positive ID. As another poster's pastor stated, it is not necessary to implant a "chip" into a human under the skin, it will be a visible mark. It will be the scanner itself, which is tied to the worldwide info net, that will translate a simple ID into bank account info, medical records, family history, buying habits etc...

    Exactly my thoughts too!

We must remember that "THE MARK" is only to identify the individual. Then everything associated with this individual is tied to this unique identifier in the beast's computer system.
