Seeing that God is holy and we are not, how does a person get to approach Him?

RE; how does one get to approach Him?

    a) admitting/knowing that Jesus was sent to cleanse our sins.
    b) with complete humility and nakedness before Him
    c) asking forgiveness for our sins

    am i getting warmer?
    apparently i'm quite daft.
    please excuse my ignorance.

In every Christian's life there comes a time when they realize they are sinners, utterly hopelessly lost in their sins and deserving of Hell.

They also realize that Jesus, the perfect God/Man came to earth to give up His life - a perfect life, without sin - and die in their place and suffer God's wrath against sin for them.

They know that if they confess they are a sinner and that He is the Son of God, that He will forgive them.

Jesus is the only bridge between sinful us and a blazingly holy God, because of what He did on the Cross.

I was trying to see if you had done that. Smoking and songwriting are one thing, but actually being saved is everything...

    sorry, I'm a bit slow.

What do you mean when you say:

"..ask for my sins to be cleansed..."

    What happens?

I'm glad you like it here.

Learning the jargon is not what you or any of us want.

Learning the Word of God, having it root inside of you and grow, now that is what everyone of us needs.

Some of the questions we ask are to figure out how mature you are in the Word. It also helps identify the weeds (false -erroneous teachings)
you may have been exposed to, weeds that will choke out your growth. And with a catholic background, I expect you want to clear your heart-garden.

It sounds like you really need to be reading the Word of God.

    Jesus said;
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Do you know what Book that is from?

No, I don't. I'm still learning chaper and verse.

I do know that I should eat of the Bread everyday, and the Bread is the Word Of God, which is the Bible.

Ok. Its from John. The Gospel of John.

I recomment reading that book a few times over. You really get to understand the person and Godhood of Christ.

Galatians seems like a good followup for you. Take your time and bring your questions.

There is a Bible Question forum that is made for that.

There is an old gospel bluegrass song with a very wise verse:

Get that dust off your Bible and redeem your poor soul.

I expect you'll agree too many have desk ornaments.

Read Your Bible. Jesus is waiting for you.

LOL, some of ya'll are picking on Mr. Spongebob.

Welcome to RR, one of my two most favorite websites! (Yes, the other one would be FB...)

Here is what I would ask you:

    1. Do you believe that you are a sinner? You have already stated that you are, which I would then assume that since you know you are a sinner, that you would also know that you need a 'solution' to your sin problem, which everyonhe who has ever been born has a sin problem.

    2. Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to save you?

    3. Do you believe that Jesus arose from death after three days?

    4. Do you believe that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? (or Ghost) This is referred to as the Trinity, just in case you didn't know that.

    5. Do you believe in the virgin birth of Jesus?

    6. Do you understand that salvation is available to you, and is free. God's word (the Bible) says that if you shall call upon the name of the Lord, you shall be saved. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and ask forgiveness for al of your sins which you have committed willingly or unwilling.

The moment you accept Jesus as your personal Savior, you are forever, eternally His!

It is by grace we are saved, not by works. No person can earn his or her way to heaven.

Once you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, you need to repent (turn from those sins) and that does not mean that you won't sin again, because you will.

    Again, welcome to RR!
“My Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40)

BTW, my son is now in the 7th grade!

Thanks Mom. Yea, they're giving me some grief. LOL.

I'm just going to assume that they're doing it because they love me. ....

And Wally, it's coming along fine. Reading here, and my Bible.

First you must be polite and answer all the questions many people here have taken the time out to ask you.

My latest fascination is with speaking/praying in *tongues*.

    Hi Frank,

Welcome, I am glad you are here!

I'd like to make a suggestion that you buy a "Student Bible". I was given one years ago (NIV) by my Pastor, and I still use it to this day...I love it! It gives you a description of each Chapter in regards to: it's importance, who wrote it, the history of who wrote, the important things to pay attention to, and how to understand it (depending on the context in which it was written and by whom). Also, throughout each Chapter, it will highlight important things, and explain them!

I pray you do not go too fast...you can get the wrong meaning from things if you are not truly taking the time, or not taking them in the right context.

I also suggest to always pray for understanding prior to reading the Bible..as God will give you understanding of what you are reading and will reveal to you what you need to know at that time.

(BTW I would not recommend you praying/speaking in tongues!)

I have a good feeling about you Frank...Jesus loves you, have faith and Jesus in your life, as well as patience...(and us "fellow Christians"!)
