Harold Camping Admits Sin, Announces End to Doomsday Predictions

After numerous failed doomsday predictions, Family Radio founder Harold Camping announced this month that he has no plans to predict ever again the day of God's Judgment. He also issued an apology to listeners, admitting that he was wrong.

"We have learned the very painful lesson that all of creation is in God's hands and He will end time in His time, not ours!" a statement on Family Radio's website reads. "We humbly recognize that God may not tell His people the date when Christ will return, any more than He tells anyone the date they will die physically."
I truly hope he is sorry. the damage he did to Christian's reputation was vast.

And in the article he said that he "now understands that the Bible is being read correctly when it says, "no man knows the day or hour". Ummmmm, what?

He sounds sincere in his apology, just wonder how long it lasts.
Psalm 30:11-12 (New King James Version)

    11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

From what I understand of Camping's eschatology, he sees no significance to "Israel" at all in God's (future/end-time) plans. I wonder if he's changed his view on that, too? When people are confused on that issue, they cannot make proper sense of things.

At least he admits he's wrong.

Others like Patricia King and Mike Bickle and the IHOP and NAR crowd as well as people on TBN and the Word Network

just keep on pridefully spewing their fables, words of 'UN' knowledge, and silly dreams and arent held accountable.

That's our only goal when a brother/sister is in error - that they repent.

Many have been praying for his repentance.

We have no choice at this point but to take him at his word - and welcome him back with open arms.

There really are a lot of ignorant people out there that for some reason people put some amount of credibility in them and off they go....... Not sure who the leader of this ignorance is Camping or the people that gave him credibility.

Glad to hear that he sees the truth of The Bible. Hope he realizes that God has great plans for Israel. He is not finished with them yet.

    Thumbs up

I remember praying for Harold Camping at the time he suffered a stroke. I'm glad to hear this.

Glory to God, King of kings and Lord of lords, who is good to His creation! He is kind and merciful to us all, the rich and the poor, the young and the old. Our God plays no favorites and we are all together the same to Him: precious and dearly beloved.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is eager to forgive the repentant, quick to hear and bless those who pray, and slow to anger being patient with sinners.

What is a very long time for us is nothing to God, a moment of wind, or the morning dew. Before noon it vanishes without a trace. A thousand years is but a moment to the Lord, how much less the lifespan of mankind?

Here today, gone tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation, the moment is now. Seek out God while He can still be found. Tomorrow is promised to no one.

When our days come to an end, the only thing that will matter is whether you've accepted the pardon Jesus Christ purchased for you with his lifeblood or if you're going to impress God on your own merits.

    God's standard is absolute perfection.

Anything short of this will not be permitted, but will be rejected and sent away to the everlasting fire reserved for the devil and his angels. Nothing is more important then your eternal standing with God.

And tell him to sit down and shut up.

Whats the old saying? Silence is golden. Here, have some gold Mr. Camping.
Don't panic! Just be Rapture Ready.

    Joel 3:2

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

Maybe this time, our Lord will come take us out of this rock. In a way I feel like each time someone makes a prediction that the rapture will occur is hindering it. Regardless who it is...

I believe God used Mr. camping's folly for good. Many "seeds" were planted worldwide because of the extensive media coverage. Many people while mocking something like this ran head on into Truth via believers telling them, either in person or on the web in comment sections, or maybe by their own searches by the gentle tug of the Holy Spirit. I pray that many of the seeds bear fruit.

And I'm also glad that Harold has owned up to his mistakes.

This is great news actually! He finally manned up and admited his wrong.

I am so glad he saw he was wrong and admitted it.Too bad he involved a fine station like family radio in this mess.Only eternity will reveal how much damage his date setting has caused.

I thought he was very well-spoken when he said this...

"We also openly acknowledge that we have no new evidence pointing to another date for the end of the world. Though many dates are circulating, Family Radio has no interest in even considering another date. God has humbled us through the events of May 21, to continue to even more fervently search the Scriptures (the Bible), not to find dates, but to be more faithful in our understanding."

I'm so glad he was humbled and repentant over what he did, rather than proud and self-righteous. God gives grace to the humble.
