I've never read "Don't waste your sorrows".

"Trials" talks about how God uses trials to foster our dependence on him, grow spiritually, and comfort others. You can get it from "Grace and Truth".

    Probably a similar concept, though.

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

I was seriously considering another Bible handout, and got hit by a two-day migraine.

I plan to inventory my supplies tonight.

Yeah, it wasn't much fun, but my husband got an opportunity to take care of me.

Like any man, he wants to be the guy who takes care of everything. He seldom gets the opportunity due to his physical problems, but he did a great job taking care of me and getting my medication refilled.

    The cat helped.

I'm always exhausted after a migraine, but I plan to AT LEAST do up some Bibles for handout tomorrow. Just an everyday handout, not me on the corner.

Since it's getting so hot, so fast, this year, I will have to be very careful doing my handouts. If I get too much sun and heat I could get really sick (due to medication), or, God forbid, get another migraine!

Although for a good handout, I'd take it.

I'm thinking your 'regular handout' is as good as a street corner handout. It's all to do with the attitude with which you do your hand out in and I'm sure yours is great. Sometimes you just have to take care of yourself too. Just like you were able allow Ron to be blessed to take care of you, let the Lord bless you in your regular handouts. He knows your physical strengths given your medication etc. Be blessed Heather Will be praying

    Thank you!

I just hope I can remain useful, you know? I've heard so many sad stories of people who got into ministry and got sidetracked, becoming useless.

I still need to get to that inventory, and then plan the next handout.

I wanted to do a handout this week.

I have a bad cold, with a fever. I'm contagious.

"Have a Bible! And a virus!"

[sigh] So, I'll wait. I can, and do, always pray for the recipients, past and future.

    Sorry you're not feeling well.
The Lord can't bless what you don't invest.

Please pray for my daughter Lindsey to seek a relationship with Jesus while he may still be found.

Default How did I miss this?

I have been here all these years and never noticed your thread and what you were doing.

Looking forward to reading each day.

Used to do this many years ago in downtown Dallas.

Will add you to my prayers and see what else we can do.

    God bless you.

You are an amazing person! I have a horrible fear of people and I could never do what you do.... I am barely able to even say "hi" to someone...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Oh, I was very fearful. I suffered a lot of loss in my early life and didn't have a safe time growing up. I could depend on God, that was it.

However, God created me for this, and I'm just glad he can use me. When I get over the cold, that is [blows nose]. Ugh.

Fishin, if you ever plan to come to Houston, send me a PM. We can meet up and maybe do a handout. It's a blast.

    A good day today.

We found a local CC and they are willing to provide Bibles for handout.

It took a little while to arrange a ride there, but we did it. We are attending now, and a couple of board members do, too! One person heard me talking about Bible handouts and knew I had to be me.

Today we mentioned to the pastor, we could use some more. He thought that was great.

He was even happier when I asked if he had stamps, or labels, or something I could put in the Bibles to direct the recipients to the church. He LOVED it.

So, he hooked me up with another guy, who says he will be happy to help print more "Where to Look in the New Testament" tracts.

Awesome. I gave him a demo New Testament "done up" for handout.

Hard to believe the handouts used to be just me, on my own.

Yeah, I have always felt evangelism should be a team effort.

However, it's still me on the corner, with the sign. I think I'm the only one [whistles] enough for THAT!

That's great that you have a church now and one that's willing to help you with handouts! I listen to podcasts from a CC in Houston; I wonder if it's the same one. If it's what I'm thinking of, it looks like a very nice church. It's made me wish I had a CC near me (the nearst is an hour away and I don't drive yet).

I'm at the West Houston one.

I find it fascinating. I did this on my own for years.

Suddenly, this year, I have a huge team. Today I met a woman who is adamant she wants to help.

Well, one of the things I find a little tedious: putting the tracts into the Bibles before I hand them out. Doing it over and over, times 100 or however many I'm distributing.

"Well" I told her "I could really use some help putting tracts into the Bibles." Great, she replied, and gave me her number. "Call me about a week before your next handout so I can set up a paratransit trip."

It really makes me wonder how much time, we do have left. Everyone is getting on board.

I think it's great, but a little creepy I have so much help coming down the line, all at once, like this...after years of doing it on my own.

    That is so wonderful Acts!
Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. (John 4:14)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
