Heather, I am praying for you and your recipients always. You are an inspiration to all and I am sure your (and Ron's) Bible handouts are responsible for our family becoming larger. Praise the Lord! I truly hope when we are all in Heaven, somehow, you will meet our eternal brothers and sisters that are with us ONLY because you heeded the call to be used by the Lord and to be obedient to Him, sometimes under the worst of circumstances.

P.S. Will your CC Church be moving to a location that you can get to and still be able to attend?

    Thank you!

I think God likes to use me because I am so weak and broken - He gets all the glory.

The recipients are surprisingly skittish and we're pretty non-threatening.

I also hope to help race relations if possible.

Hugs, we have no idea. They just dropped this on the pastor about a week ago. As long as they're "inside the Beltway" (a huge area) I will be OK. Paratransit goes out of the Beltway in a few spots but not many.

I have seen God do so many amazing things I have no doubt He will fix this too. Our job (the church) is just praying until we fall over whatever God has for us.

Last year about this time I was told we would lose our business. After lots of adventures, it has never been better. They told me Ron would die after the accident. My parents were told I'd never live on my own just due to the brain damage.

    And God laughs.

    The Bible Handout that wasn't:

Ron set up the trip so we'd surefire get to church at 9.

He woke up at 7:30 screaming in pain. His good hand was in extreme pain. We prayed over it, applied some tiger balm. He said that helped.

He did not want to do the handout so I gave up the idea. I also had a feeling it wouldn't happen the way I thought.

I did bring some https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X...o/PICT0128.JPG driver candy - a bag of candy with a scripture booklet.

Our ride was very late and did not arrive until 8:45. He had to pick up another wheelchair in the ghetto, then 2 drops deep in residential areas.

Church starts at 10. We got there at 10:30.

We had a good sermon. We went out to eat and then we went home.

All told, 4 Burger King employees, one other passenger, and two drivers got driver candy. Not bad. Not what I thought either.

Oh, and I had a migraine.

Good news: I have plenty of candy for tomorrow.

I have a case of Bibles for distribution when ready.

I broke my toe, again, the day after the handout.

Tomorrow I plan to bring some driver candy for drivers and the gang at the Burger King. I only have a couple weeks to minister to them before the move.

I really want to go back to Tidwell. Praying on that. It's a great mission field.

However, I'm not to keen on loitering in the area after the handout. It is pretty grim.

So Ron and I will do a one-way paratransit to the location. We can ride the bus home afterward, it runs very often. I only have to push him a half mile from the bus stop to the house (very good in public transit).

    I'm doing a Handout tomorrow.

Ron had a tantrum and cancelled the ride, but this is why I live on a bus line.

I may be dependent on public transit, but I have multiple modalities.

He may or may not change his mind. Considering he has a trip to the liquor store (I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried) I doubt he'll come.

I'll be fine. I'd rather do a poinpoint strike and get out quickly. Last time we had to wait around for quite a while and people started bothering us.

    Anyway, off to the ghetto.

Just prayed for both of you.

    And for the future recipients!

NASTY headache today. Still went. Ron came with.

We were out there for about 45 minutes or so in feels like 104. It was really sunny too. I had hats for us, though.

We handed out about 40 to 50 - I didn't count them but made sure I had "plenty". I try not to get too hung up on numbers so I don't start rating them as "good" or "bad" handouts.

If I'm handing out Bibles then it's a good handout.

Recipient of the Day award goes to the guy drinking a can of beer in his car, smoking - something, but he took the Bible when I offered it.

Jesus came for everyone. I distribute to everyone.

I had some Spanish, but not many.

I had LOTS of couples wanting Bibles, which I found sweet. A lot of singles.

I think the most interesting single was the impeccably dressed, coiffed, and made-up lady - looked like she stepped out of a fashion magazine, but she held up traffic for me to get over with a Bible. When I handed it off, she took it carefully and them accelerated.

I'll remind you I was in a ghetto. I had a white guy begging on one corner, a guy holding up a sign for an insurance company on the other, and Ron and I on the third. I've never been to Times Square but it sort of felt that way to me.

I'd handed out most of them when I started feeling worse, so I called it in... but wait!

Two guys down at the end are waving to me! I gave them each a Bible and then wrapped it up.

Oh, and about 5 people tried to give me money, truly shocked when I said no.

They all accepted Bibles, too. I hope I got them thinking.

Like I told Ron, I think the ghetto respects our guts in coming onto their turf, putting ourselves at risk to share our faith. Since we're not finger-pointing, they are more open to taking the gospel from us.

Throbbing head nonwithstanding, it was sure nice to see people looking at the tracts as they waited for the light to change. Each Bible had a tract.

We came home on the bus. We were pretty wiped out.

What a wonderful testimony, Acts! Sorry it was so hot, and a headache to boot. But, you and Ron were faithful even under adverse circumstances. I am blessed each time I read a post describing your most recent Bible handout. So thankful for your ministry there in Houston.

    Happy to be used.

God does all the drawing, I just stand there and make a spectacle.

    We're pretty good at that.
