From "The Big Bang Theory," possibly the best geek sitcom I've ever seen!

I've seen several "Keep Calm and . . . " signs around lately. This one happened to be on LOLCats.

Is this show worth me watching? I pick and choose because I have to use closed captioning and I can't stand the contents of most shows. I have never seen this. Should I give it a try?

Hugs, you can try and see if you like it. There is little in the way of swear words, some in the way of premarital intimacy, but it is very funny on a geek level. The Sheldon character is very funny in that he is the typical, socially-awkward, somewhat OCD geek. Leonard often plays straight man to Sheldon. Howard, who is currently engaged to his microbiologist girlfriend, is the stereotypical Jewish guy who lives with his mother, and he dresses like he's one of the Monkees. Raj is the Indian member of the group, who can't talk to girls unless he's inebriated. All of them are scientists, and all of them are obsessed with the typical geek stuff: online gaming (mostly World of Warcraft), sci-fi shows/movies, and comic books. Penny, who dates Leonard, lives next door and is the only real non-geek on the show. Bernadette is Howard's girlfriend, and Amy Farrah Fowler is the closest thing Sheldon has ever come to a girlfriend (technically she's his girlfriend, but since Sheldon is "Sheldon," it's more of a business contract kind of deal with him -- he has a "roommate agreement" with Leonard and a "relationship agreement" with Amy Farrah Fowler). If you don't like geek humor, you may not like it, but if you are a geek or know geeks like these, you may enjoy the series.

Here's a picture of the cast:

Its a show I really enjoy but know a lot of people who say they just can't follow it. Guess it could be an acquired taste but I find it fun because I know a few people who match the characters

I need to watch more Big Bang Theory; I love the geeky humor!

    Very funny show.

Frustrating from a Christian vs evolution and "intelegence" point of view.

The portrail of the Texas Christian mom irritates me.

Some overt sexual overtones, as one character is, well, let's say, an attractive blonde.

    Funny show though.

I used to love this show until I watched an episode in which either Penny or Sheldon poked fun of Jesus and put him down.

I watch it. It's funny. Sheldon is very funny and I like his hyper-logical take on social norms but he's kind of cold and creepy too. There are always a lot of occult symbols on the T-shirts that the characters ware and in the details on-set. There are a lot of overtly vulgar jokes too. The characters are all very obviously atheists but the show is called "Big Bang Theory" after all so you get what you get.

Maybe its just me but I've noticed that TV in general took a disturbing dive into the gutter (even deeper then before) some time last year. I watch this show because I got rid of cable (Yick!) and most of the other things available on the old rabbit ears are shows about murder, torture and other crimes and amoral themes. There are also a lot of Oprah type talk shows and new agey self help programs too. It's slim pickins' out there these days.

It's sad that a show like this is one of the more bearable ones out there...the alternative is to simply stop watching TV shows altogether.

If all the sexual under- and overtones, the nasty jokes and the incidental blasphemy would be taken away, the show would be quite more bearable.
While Sheldon as a character is quite funny and insightful regarding how to interact with standoffish people, i really hate the fact that the actor playing him, Jim Parsons, is an active homosexual.

Another thing that really irks me about the TBBT is the overarching tone of relationships/sex being important and the nasty bearings of these characters to each other.
I do actually like the geek, nerd, tech and science humor in the show, but that cannot redeem the show.

And that is YOUR opinion!! I said amen when i saw this.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
