Default An urge to pray for someone in need

Good Morning everyone.I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.I have a casual friend who recently lost her job after working for this company for 35 years. It was extremely difficult for her and her husband since she was the only finanicial support in their household because her husband had retired several months before. This lady was layed off a couple of months ago.I woke up this morning with desire to pray for Gretchen. It was very strong. This desire within me told me to pray for her and her husbands souls and their need for God.Neither of them are believers.Has this ever happened to you?Gotten this urge all of a sudden to pray for someone?

Yes this absolutely has happened to me. I can't even remember how many times... Sometimes the need is slight and sometimes it's urgent. Once, about a decade ago, I woke from a sound sleep with the overwhelming urge to pray for my daughter and her then-boyfriend. It was urgent and seemed "loud" if you know what I mean. I instantly prayed with my whole being for her safety and protection. Right after praying I felt at peace and went back to sleep (surprising for a worry-wort mom that I am). The next day I woke up to find my daughter safely in her bed. She was 17 at the time and had been at a birthday party (parent-chaperoned) the night before and I knew she would keep curfew so I had gone to bed around 9PM. When she woke up she told me that they had left the party at around 10PM to make it here in plenty of time. They were on the road at the time I felt called to pray. This large buck had run in front of them and hit the boy's car, flipped up onto the hood and broken the windshield. He drove a very small car and there was quite a bit of damage done. His Dad came and drove my (totally unharmed) daughter home safely. She wasn't even scratched by the broken glass. I really listen (or try to) when I feel led to pray for a specific person or situation. Lately I feel the need to pray unceasingly for the leaders of our country. (I have never felt that before). Sorry for running on...
Please pray for my unsaved loved-ones. Time is short.

Yes. I don't think I've ever known the reason or the outcome quite like Grace Saved did above though! That's awesome!
Mostly it seems I get the urge to pray for people as I'm about my day. The cashier, that guy in traffic, family members, friends who come to mind, threads here etc. I have awoken from a dead sleep and felt I needed to pray but non specifically.

Eta: and of course the recipients of Acts handouts... How could I forget them?

    Yes, it happens.

No, I don't know the results.

    Pixel, see my update thread.

I get the urge sometimes too out of the blue. Like pixelpusher, sometimes it's when I'm about my day...not sure why but you meet someone and for whatever reason you want to pray for them, and it is so strong the urge!

I had that urge last weekend when I was at work, my husband was at home doing some yardwork. I just had this urge all day to pray for his safety....when I came home I found out a tree had fallen "around" him. When it fell, he stood right in between the forks of the tree and a large branch - it just went right around him. I thought how amazing....I'm so glad I was praying.

I have also woken up in the middle of the night to pray - but not too often. That I find the strangest, because the urge wakes you out of your sleep, you pray, and then fall right back asleep!

I have these urges often, but I think the most intense one I have ever had was one morning I was strongly compelled to pray for an unknown woman who was faced with an unexpected pregnancy. I still don't know why or who, but it's another indication to me that the Holy Spirit is speaking to me!
