    Default Relationship with God....

This is probably going to be strange to a lot of people.... At one time in my life I was into witchcraft and talking to "spirits".. ...so now I am afraid that when I think God could be telling me something that it is one of those spirits...(I used to also do that automatic writing thing).... How do I get over that? How do I know it is God? So many people tell of their wonderful relationship with God and how they hear His voice... I would like to hear God's voice to... He is so good to me... He always answers my prayers...

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I hear His voice through His word. He brings remembrance to what He has already said to my mind. Everything from the Lord will be in accordance with scripture. Just because someone says they have this or that, doesn't mean it is so, doesn't mean it is God they are hearing. Keep reading, studying and meditating upon His word, it will make you wise and you will lack nothing.
Don't panic! Just be Rapture Ready.

    Joel 3:2

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

Amen to the above. His Word is precious and very important to us. We probably don't think about it much, but we're very fortunate to have His Word so readily available. That isn't the case everywhere and sometimes in history His printed Word was out of reach to most.

You know what they say about how bank tellers learn how to spot counterfeit money - they handle real money so much that they know a fake.

It's the same with *voices*, when we bathe our minds with God's voice in His Word, anything else that may come to us can be discerned as the real thing or counterfeit much more easily. He speaks primarily through His Word though.

Just to add; also pray and talk to God about things, He obviously already knows about your past, but to explain it to Him and ask Him to always guide you in a way that you know is Him (such as through His word), is wonderful for the relationship! Then, trust Him instead of yourself to guide you and let you know when it is really Him.

Thank you all for your help!! I know this is silly and not true...but sometimes I think that God won't communicate with me because I am so full of sin... There are some people who just do everything right... not me... I tend to fall into every hole... I mostly fail at everything....but despite all of this when I hole, God always bails me out.. I believe that I have finally found an answer today to another question that I have always asked God.... now, I could have the answer wrong, but it did seem to line up with the bible pretty well...please correct me if I am wrong... I always wondered why we won't be married in heaven...well, the answer that I found is that we will be like the angels (not male or female) because we will no longer be having babies...and we will be married to Jesus (meaning our relationship with Him will be very intimate)... Is this correct? ..please correct me if you think I am wrong... Thank you!

Have to back track a bit here; just so you know for a fact; you are no longer full of sin!! If you are a believer, you have been washed by the blood of the Lamb, and what a wonderful thing that is! We still may have a sin nature along with our flesh, and we most assuredly will stumble and keep wrestling with the old nature.

There are some people who just do everything right...
Trust me, if they are not sinning outwardly, they have inward sin aplenty. No one can even get close to Jesus (as far as good works, I mean), Who was and is the only perfect human. We are blessed in that we get to share in His righteousness by grace through faith.

Just a few thoughts; first, it doesn't come out and say we will be androgynous, in fact, we will retain our gender; remember, Jesus appeared in His glorified body as a male. Second, as for why, to be sure, we'll have to wait and find that out. I do think it has something to do with the fact that the primary relationship we will have and should focus on in Heaven is our relationship and the Lord.

Thank you!! I read that about the male/female thing...they got that from the part in the bible that said we will be like the angels... It's so confusing! Thank you for explaining it to me...

Generally, if I get a thought I believe is from a demon, I tell it (mentally) to get out of my head, in Jesus' name. It always stops after that.

God generally sticks to "forgive that person" "pray for so and so" "don't worry" and "go do a handout".

I'm with K, I think our primary relationship, in Heaven, is with God/Jesus and all other relationships are insignificant in comparison.

One thing is for sure. We won't be alone in our mansions. The mystery of it all is killing me. If there is someone for me in heaven then may God have mercy for her...I am a piece of work.

    I'm not worried.

Whatever He has planned for us will be awesome.

Can you imagine the complexity for someone who'd been widowed and remarried a few times?

I figure our relationship with God is so awesome and overwhelming, human relationships are a distant second.

I like to think God has a couple of kids for me in Heaven.

An answer re: mariage in Heaven question

Question: "Will there be marriage in heaven?"

    http://www.gotquestions.org/marriage-heaven.html

Answer: The Bible tells us, “At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven” (Matthew 22:30). This was Jesus’ answer in response to a question concerning a woman who had been married multiple times in her life —whom would she be married to in heaven (Matthew 22:23-28)? Evidently, there will be no such thing as marriage in heaven. This does not mean that a husband and wife will no longer know each other in heaven. This also does not mean that a husband and wife could not still have a close relationship in heaven. What it does seem to indicate, though, is that a husband and wife will no longer be married in heaven.

Most likely, there will be no marriage in heaven simply because there will be no need for it. When God established marriage, He did so to fill certain needs. First, He saw that Adam was in need of a companion. “The LORD God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’” (Genesis 2:18). Eve was the solution to the problem of Adam’s loneliness, as well as his need for a “helper,” someone to come alongside him as his companion and go through life by his side. In heaven, however, there will be no loneliness, nor will there be any need for helpers. We will be surrounded by multitudes of believers and angels (Revelation 7:9), and all our needs will be met, including the need for companionship.

Second, God created marriage as a means of procreation and the filling of the earth with human beings. Heaven, however, will not be populated by procreation. Those who go to heaven will get there by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; they will not be created there by means of reproduction. Therefore, there is no purpose for marriage in heaven since there is no procreation or loneliness.
“My Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40)

We won't need a soul mate or a husband; it won't matter. God is everything (& more) that we will need in Heaven.
