Default Fear or Faith, tuning out the bad news

This is a double post because I want everyone to hear this radio show from
Chris Fabry Live on Moody radio.
If you listen to the bad news all day long like I used to, this will bless you.
If you find yourself downtrodden with a fear of dread about what is happening in our
    country, you need to listen.
If your peace is being destroyed you need to listen.
If you think the people in Washington are your enemies, you will change your mind.
    I don't think I've ever heard a better show.

I'm sorry, I hope I didn't offend you by my post.
    Maybe they offer a transcript?

I read some article yesterday about the latest executive order that brings us much closer to a North American Union and the feeling I had when I read it was indescribeable. How can you express what it's like to see prophecy being fulfilled in front of your eyes? It is faith affirming for sure, but it's also sobering. And yet, Jesus told us to be sober. Maybe that was His point about when we see the signs that the Tribulation is coming very quickly and we are waiting for Him--and why Him coming for us is such a comfort. We know He is coming. He promised and cannot go back on His Word. What scares me are the lost and their future and their apathy and sometimes contempt for Jesus and the Gospel. I am scared for them and pray they might find a point in time that they repent and are saved.

The Bible is very clear that the last days started in Acts 2. Peter quotes Joel and says (in part) that they are in the last days starting that day and Paul said that he was in the last days. He is near, even at the door, and for me, it's been more challenging to be ready and to keep my eyes on Him. I want to live a life pleasing to Him and I am still amazed at the fierceness of the battle in my own flesh and my desperate need to stay close to Him.

I hope you are able to listen to the link and find some peace. I did.

I have peace. I have Jesus. Whether I listen to the link or not, the Prince of Peace resides in my heart by His Spirit! What could be better than the knowlege of that?!

I guess all Christians have their weaknesses.
Even Chris Fabry from Moody Radio gets uptight listening to the bad news all day long.
I have MANY unsaved family members and that gets to me.

I don't spend my days listening to bad news. I am a stay at home mom who homeschools. My day is spent raising and teaching my kids and caring for our home. Media of any sort is such a minor part of my life. I watch zero TV programs on my own. My kids are restricted to preselected movies on DVD, Netflix, or Vudu. We don't watch the news--we read it. My husband does listen to a mix of conservative Christian radio and conservative AM talk and even he has cut way down on both and has switched over to listening to expository teaching through the Bible on CD in his car.

We have lots of unsaved family, friends. We have shared the Lord. We pray over them and trust the Author and Finisher of our faith that He has things under control and work on the things that He laid out beforehand for us to walk in as they come up.

I do get discouraged at times. Our oldest is a prodigal who is struggling mightily right now, and that is not easy as a parent. But, I learned in the process of getting saved that difficulties are an opportunity to increase faith and to draw closer to the Lord and to praise Him at all times. I don't stay discouraged for long. I read my Bible. I take all things in prayer to Him, and my favorite thing to do is praise Him during difficulties, times of doubt or frustration and affirm Who my Savior is. I so appreciate testimony for the Lord, but I suppose that I don't tend to seek it out very much. I just seek Him.

God is good. I can't wait until we are with Him. It will also be awesome to meet everyone here! And there will be an end to discouragement eternally---again why be discouraged or have a lack of peace with that knowlege longer than the moment it takes the Holy Spirit to remind us?!

Since I have taken myself out of watching the world spin down the drain, I don't find myself
    discouraged.
I sit at a desk in an office by myself and listen to internet radio all day. Now I am listening to Moody radio or the Oldies.

The only time I watch the news is when I'm on the stair stepper at the gym. Its right in my face X7 different screens. To avoid it I sometimes just look out the window. It does get me down if I watch it. At home we just don't watch it. Its not suitable for my young children. I've started spending a part of my free time listening to sermons on you tube,John MacArthur is one of my favorites.

I seldom watch or listen to the news...it's too disheartening. I'm into old movies, Christian television, radio and music and old TV shows. I normally get enough news from Christian sources to not need to seek out news from secular sources.

The world is a mess and getting messier by the minute. The Lord is capable, and willing, to sustain those who trust in Him through the worst of times. Even better...I know Jesus is returning for His Church very soon and that includes me. The Restainer is still at work. My future is in the hands of the Lord. These things keep me sane in a world of insanity. It's hard to lose hope when your trust is in the One Who embodies hope!

My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; the fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

    Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai!

I've been tuning out bad news since I was little. It's too depressing. My mom says I should really be in the know when it comes to news stories and every once in a while, I turn to CNN, HLN, or the local news but mostly if I want to know what's going on I'll just go on the internet. Other than that, I watch Golden Girls and Fraiser before bed and I'm work when the 6pm news is on. Oh and I'm watching a comedy or something off of Nick or Disney.

I do not read the newspaper or watch the news on television(probably because I do not have television reception). It is depressing to see all the horrible things going on in this world.I am sure glad that God is in control.

We watch a lot of news. My husband is a news freak and has always had a penchant for channel-flipping so he can compare how the different networks are spinning the same story. Being around him has been very educational for me over the years. I've learned to listen critically and not believe everything I hear.

Before I got into serious Bible study, world events and even Bible prophecy scared me. But the more I read and study, especially endtimes prophecies, the more I realize I have nothing to fear. In fact, the worse the news gets, the more excited I get...yet, in a sobering way. I see how the stage is being set, I hear the newscasters starting to talk about things that for years I've only read about on Christian websites. The "worse" it gets, the closer we are to the rapture. Everything is so on-the-brink that surely He must be right at the door.

Yet I do find that many other Christians are depressed or scared about the news. I think the answer is to get deeper into the Word. That's what changed my perspective!
