    Default Narnia

So how many of you are Narnia fans? The books and/or the movies. They're probably my favorite series of all time, and I still love reading them even though I'm almost 33. I was VERY excited when the first one came out a few years ago. Watching it right now, actually. The next two I also loved, but felt they strayed a little too much...especially with the Dawn Treader. Actually they butchered it a bit, I thought, but I loved it anyway, since I'd waited my whole life to see it on screen. So, I'd read recently that there had been talk of doing the Magician's Nephew next, but just saw today that it's probably been shelved until 2+ more years.

Which movie do you wish they'd make next? Are there any you HAVE to see, or ones you don't care if they make? For me, I absolutely hope they make the Magician's Nephew and the Last Battle. I would love if they made the rest, but those are my favorite, besides what's been made.

I just want to be with You

    Every minute takes an hour
Every inch feels like a mile
Til I won't have to imagine
And I finally get to see You smile"

I thought they did a great job with the first one. I liked the others too. My son is currently reading the series. He loved the Wardrobe one and Prince Caspian. He's not as excited about The Dawn Treader. I told him that I thought he'd like the last one. It's been years since I've read most of the books.

Loved reading the books when I was younger and watching the older version of the movies, and have enjoyed the new ones that have come out also.

Shoot, I'm kicking on 45, and I read the re-read the books a couple years ago. I'm not such a Narnian that I could tell you all the characters and plots but I do love it. Great stories.

Yes, I'm a huge Narnia fan. I've read and reread the books so many times I've lost count. I'd love to see both Magician's Nephew and Last Battle on the big screen, though I wish they would stick with the books instead of adding to them.

My mother has told me she had heard the movie "Narnia" was all about witchcraft. Well that just a sparked my interest to watch it. She didn't want me to watch it but I did cuz I wanted to see if it was true. I really don't see what the big fuss about except it probably gave Catholic a bad name. I liked the movie....

I can't remember when I first read the Narnia books. Then when our boys were 5 and 8, we spent one summer away from home in a travel trailer and did tons of reading for entertainment. I read them out loud to the boys, and my husband got so involved, he'd put down his book and listen. Then he started stealing the books, and pretty soon we were all fighting over the books! The boys loved them.

I reread them when my oldest was 17. He saw them laying around and decided to reread them also. He was blown away by all the Christian symbolism, which of course he'd totally missed when he was 8. He reread them again last year when he was 33, and now his 11-year-old son is reading them. My other son has also reread them, and his son read the first one when he was 8.

When we went to see "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," I was sure there was no way the movie could be as good as the book. But the moment it started, it was magical. Everyone and everything was exactly like I had imagined. I was so moved, I started crying about a third of the way through it, knowing what was going to happen to Aslan. I felt foolish crying when there was nothing to cry over, but the Christian symbolism was just so strong. Funny thing, I mentioned this to a friend later and she had had the exact same reaction! I thought it was very well done.

I believe Silver Chair is in the making, after which it is planned to stop. It would be fantastic if they did The Magician's Nephew... maybe wait a few years to re release the series again.

I mean they've done prequells for other series.

Certianly the Horse and His Boy, and the Last Battle are deserving of at least one movie. It will depend how brave the producers are.

Its been years since I've read the whole series, and the BBC versions are still a delight.

So until we get to "further up and further in" lets be citizens of our higher calling. For Aslan!

I am a huge Narnia fans. My children are/were (were is the recently deceased DD). i did not even hear of Narnia until I was mid thirties. I have bought the series about 3 times. They have been read to death.

about 25 years ago, the BBC made a number of them as a TV series. It was extremely accurate.

Read the Narnia series many many years ago. Then when the first movie came
out, I waited for the DVD and rented it, then bought it. I though they
did a great job. I cried for the faun, too, ( Mr. Tomlin?) such a nice guy. I cried when
they killed Aslan and was thrilled when he was resurrected. Then I bought
the hardcover book that has the entire series in one book, so I could
re-read it and compare the books to the movie. The little girl who played Lucy
is such a wonderful actress for such a young girl. Special effects were awesome.

I read those books over and over when I was a girl. I probably have the entire series memorized. I have seen all three movies, and while they are good as far as movies go, they stray too far from the books for my taste. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was the closest to the book. I didn't like the way that Prince Caspian portrayed Peter. In the movie Peter was impatient, he picked fights, and he was competing with Caspian, which is completely contrary to the book. I don't remember enough of the Voyage of the Dawn Treader to point out specific details, but I did drive my husband nuts while we were watching the movie by telling him everything that was different than the book. Even though I wish that the movies were much closer to the books, I know that I will want to see The Silver Chair when it comes out. The only reassuring thing to me about the movies is that Lewis' stepson, Douglas Gresham, was one of the producers for all 3. Just my .02 cents, but I think that if they are going to make a movie based on a book, it should be true to the entire book. Oh, just remembered one more detail. In Prince Caspian, the Old Narnians DID NOT attack Miraz's castle, where in the movie that is a major scene.
