    Default Gold rush possible in southern Israel

    Gold rush possible in southern Israel
    Sunday, May 06, 2012 | Israel Today Staff

    First it was oil, then natural gas, now a group believes it has found a commercially-viable concentration of gold in Israel. A few weeks ago, Gulliver Energy Ltd. officially applied for a gold exploration permit in the mountainous area surrounding the southern Israel resort town of Eilat.

    Chaired by former Mossad chief Meir Dagan, Gulliver believes, according to past drillings, that the area contains a reasonable amount of gold in concentrations of 3-4 grams per ton. Of course, the company would also expect to find large quantities of other precious metals, like copper. The mountainous regions of southern Israel were famous for their copper mines during Israel's biblical period.

    Gulliver has teamed up with Northwood Exploration of Australia to explore the 43 square kilometer (16.6 square mile) area covered by their permit.

    Should a large amount of gold and other metals be found, the companies' biggest problem will be that much of southern Israel is designated as nature reserves, and therefore off limits to mining. http://www.israeltoday.co.il/tabid/1...nt=Simulation:

    Wow! "Have you come to take a spoil?" Oil, natural gas, and gold. A rather large spoil if you ask me.

    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
    And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

    Wow! It's really isolated down at the very tip of Israel, and not easily defended. Looking from the north to the west to the south is nothing but the Sinai Peninsula.

    Imagine what would happen if the world gold supply were to double. What would that do to the economies of the world and to the gold standard.

    I think gold prices would tumble a bit but not much else would happen considering that most, if not all, of the world runs on fiat currency now.

    Not to worry, I would not steal from Israel, it's a fantasy anyway about panning for gold under their auspices and giving it to Israel just as they allow volunteers to do archaelogical excavations of precious artifacts.

    I wouldn't get too excited about a 3 to 4 grams of gold per 2000 lb. of dirt. If they scrape the dirt off a mountain and it glistens in the sunlight, then the jumping up and down excitement can begin.
