‘Barcode everyone at birth’: Opinion

This week science fiction writer Elizabeth Moon argues that everyone should be given a barcode at birth.

“If I were empress of the Universe I would insist on every individual having a unique ID permanently attached - a barcode if you will; an implanted chip to provide an easy, fast inexpensive way to identify individuals.

It would be imprinted on everyone at birth. Point the scanner at someone and there it is.

Having such a unique barcode would have many advantages. In war soldiers could easily differentiate legitimate targets in a population from non combatants.

This could prevent mistakes in identity, mistakes that result in the deaths of innocent bystanders. Weapons systems would record the code of the use, identifying how fired which shot and leading to more accountability in the field.

Anonymity would be impossible as would mistaken identity making it easier to place responsibility accurately, not only in war but also in non-combat situations far from the war.”

No, it's not the mark of the beast, but it shows the mindset of desiring such identification. At least from a sample of one.

I certainly see the potential for the MOB...This statement makes it clear that it would be a conscious choice.

This is just sick and scary. The fact that there are so many among us even thinking in these terms makes it very evident to me just how fallen our society has become.
The only good thing about it, is that as evil and twisted as this world is, we must be very close to going home, and for this, I rejoice.

If I wasn't a Christian and didn't know better, I would think that barcoding everyone is a great idea! No more identity thefts...
No more needing birth certificates or passports.. Illegals would be easy to find.. I would think that it would be a great idea...
...but I know where this type of technology can lead.... Praise God that I know!

The Lord of the Universe did provide a unique way to identify people. It is called DNA. Each person is unique. No one else has ever had my fingerprints, looked like me, had my exact DNA. Goodness, He even knows the numbers of hairs on my head. Of course, all of this information is not given to just everyone. They do not need it. I will not be around when lady muck is queen of the universe.

No its not the MOTB certainly, but its becoming increasingly a topic of popular discussion and together with the technologies in place, sets the stage for when the MOTB is introduced. Similar moves are being introduced in countries such as India.

This is a bad idea. Imagine the following scenario:

Putin: "So, Ali, if I transport five nuclear weapons by submarine to your people along the undersea route you have mapped, you will establish a permanent oil pipeline for our use?"

this is another MOTB precurser. I just read several sci-fi books and they all had this technology in them. It wasn't a 'theme' it was just accepted as 'hey this is how we do things'.

It might be another 100 years, but baring the rapture or ww3, within 100 years, everyone will most likley get some sort of implant for identification shortly after birth or before they become 'an adult'. It does make sense, but it is also a great form of government control.

It won't be long now that discussions about such implants start getting serious amoung government officals around the world.

I'm guessing the Rapture takes place first. hopefully this year.. more hopefully before I finish typing this reply

but yes, the MOTB has to be something a person willingly accepts as it is the final sign that they reject God.

This is just my opinion but there r two different mob in revelations and i think that those that already have a chip would have to take the marking on the forhead as their choice. What do u guys think?

Mom: OK kids. Be sure to say your prayers to the christ tonight and thank him for your special mark you will get later today. Our whole family will be totally surrendered to him now and we will be blessed abundantly for our obedience to him. Your daddy will be so happy when he gets home. You're going to be the christ's favorite followers and make him very, very proud of you.

This reality is so close it's downright creepy. Rub your right hand and your forehead to make sure that this was just a story. Thank the merciful God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that you will be spared from these days. The post-Rapture world is already programmed to receive the real mark. It WILL hurt badly. The pain will be eternal. We MUST warn them again and again without ceasing... FOR TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE.

If all of mankind came to Christ or at least revered God like our country did in the early 1800's. God would ensure that our Earthly problems were minimal and would ensure all who violated both God's and man's law were brought to justice. In God's Eyes we are all marked and we need no marking even physically. You would think that those of the world would not only look at the benefits of being marked, but also the darker side of being marked as such and how it could imprison people to the commands of the elite and those in charge. It should be even obvious to the casual observer that if the world's monetary system went cashless, this would be used to link a person to their cash, and it could also be used to lock a person out from their cash.
Let us say you said something bad about a politician or the president and you suddenly find your funds in your cashless account are either missing or you cannot make any withdrawals.
That is exactly what would happen after a cashless system got implemented.
Then they would only have to do this a few times before the public decided it is not worth risking the loss of your money to say anything bad about the president or demoncrats, maybe even republicans given that they don't seem much different than the dems these days. IMHO

I started that with "You Would Think", but no they don't think and I whole heartedly agree with what you wrote. They would rather talk at their TV than get up and talk to something that matters or would make a difference since that would require "Effort".

And chipping the elderly too. It may be that once the implant part of Obamacare takes effect every one in a nursing home or assisted living center will be required to be 'chipped'. It seems to me that the space between the proverbial rock and hard place is getting smaller by the day.

Thats the first thing that came to mind for me as well, the many unique identifications the Lord has put into men.

If I could respond to someone like this it might be...'so whats a matter you, God already did provide you with numerous unique ways to identify men, and you would create some silly computerized method?'
