    Not thinking of anyone specific really, just in general there are some like that.
    I'm not wanting to question their sincerity of belief (how can I know?), just reconciling it with this verse.
    I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
    For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor;
    no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

    Maybe you're just over thinking things a bit.

    Come soon Lord Jesus - Take us Safely Home

    John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

    It helps to remember that 1 John was written so that we could concentrate on ourselves in Christ, it's not about applying what John is saying to others, if that makes sense. In other words, it's our own hearts under the microscope.

    Thanks to sweeetlilgurlie on Narniaweb for the sig

    Jacinth, I know where you are coming from. Been reading through this thread & I'd always apply it to myself. But your quote stood out to me, as I know believers exactly as you describe. I really don't know who they are "in Christ", but that's not my job so I leave it to God. I'm guessing you've also used this scripture to ask yourself "who are these people, really" as I have. But the bottom line is not to overthink it , as Steve said. Just wanted you to know I "get" what you're getting at- I think
