Default Home Laser Hair Removal - TRIA or another one?

I have been looking at the TRIA and thinking of purchasing that one. It looks like the best one from the research I have done....has anyone used it?

What about skin tone....I have Olive skin, would it still work on me?

My friend bought the No-No and NO-NO she does not recemmend it!

I wouldn't use a home laser if you gave it to me.

I prefer my Dollar Tree razors.

You should be able to type ["The system that I like" reviews] into Google and get fair reviews. Just avoid the sites that are clearly promoted by the manufacturer. "My Best hair system dot com" - things like that. Or "My system's name reviews . com". Those are "shills" - fake reviews put up by the manufacturer.

My husband loves infomercials and I am always debunking claims for him.

I shave my legs and wax my face.I would not shave my face because I have seen too many women with 5 oclock shadow.Waxing can be painful and it can leave many women with redness afterwards.I would not buy a laser to do at home.Too risky.

Laser hair removal should only be done by a trained professional. Lasers can severely burn the skin if not used properly. My guess is that what ever they are selling for home use is not very powerful and probably won't work well. The nurse who did mine had to go to a special class to learn the laser, she also does tattoo removal and aesthetic laser treatments.

I had it done on my underarms and bikini line (I swim year round and didn't want to bother with any other non-permanent treatment). The hair on my legs is not dark enough to respond to treatment. Lasers work best on light skin and dark hair. I bought a package deal for 12 treatments and ended up only needed about 2/3 of the treatments. I saw very good results after three weeks, going 2X a week. It removed almost all the hair, I just have a few strays here and there, which they will take care of since I still have a credit, I just have to make the appointment.

The underarm treatments were uncomfortable, only slightly painful. The bikini treatments were just momentary discomfort.

Thanks Ladies, some "food for thought". I'll do some more checking on the "safety" aspects too.

Unfortunately that's not an option for me, otherwise I would most definitely go to a professional. I live out in the "boonies" and the nearest laser clinic is 4 1/2hrs one way! So it would be too much in time & gas for me to do this.

I am going to do more research though on your point about burning the skin...because I do remember reading that somewhere, so I will look into that aspect further.

If they sell it on Amazon, check the reviews there, they usually seem pretty good. I don't buy products unless they have overwhelming positive reviews.

You mentioned "olive skin" in your first post, how "olive"? When I did the laser they told me no sun exposure at all, any kind of tan/skin darkening will impede the process. They also said that the darker your skin tone, the more heat the skin absorbs and the more it hurts. I am super pale, the nurse said I had the ideal skin tone for the process to work, but the hair you want to remove has to be dark.

hmmm....I guess I'd say more 'lighter' olive as opposed to dark. Without being in the sun ie. winter when we haven't been in the sun for a few months, I look like I have a light tan - whereas my husband loses any tan he had and converts back to white. (I lose him in the snow if I don't my eye on him!)
