Thread: 184 Days

    Default 184 Days

After ten years of sporadically working on it, I have finally finished a novel that might be of interest to my Rapture Ready friends.

It's a fictional "end of the world" Rapture-like event (one of the characters thinks it IS the Rapture), where the few survivors try to cope with what's happened and eventually meet.

It's like The Stand, only without dead bodies!

There are many references and links to Tribulations events, although it's not really the Tribulation. Can't say much more than that without giving away the ending.

If it's allowed, I'll post a link so you can read it. Otherwise, PM me and I'll send it to you.

I've gotten one request, and have tried to send back a reply.

I'm not sure if it's going through. The reply is not showing in the SENT folder, and my message count remains unchanged.

So I'm not ignoring the request.

Not sure why it's not going through if indeed it is not. I have stored 45 messages out of the max of 100 messages.

My replies still aren't showing in the SENT folder, and my message count isn't changing.
However, the messages are getting through, so don't be concerned about making a request.

Here's the introduction to the book:

On Saturday, June 30th, 2007, an unknown spatial energy force passed
within 12,000 kilometers of earth. This NEO (Near Earth Object)
registered on only a few select advanced monitoring systems; less than a
hundred people are aware of its existence. Exhaustive study of the residual
particles left in this object’s trail never identified it. Some thought it was a
natural energy force. Some thought it was a weapon. Most thought it was
destructive. No one knew of the consequences if it had hit earth.

This is the story of what might have been....

Miggy, congrats on finishing your work!

I loved reading The Stand way back when... I'd like to have the link to your book, too, please.

Thank you, Miggy. Well written, edited and proofed, if I may say.

I also visited your website--also interesting and uplifting. I viewed the 2011 critter pics and loved your comments.

    Sonlight, PM sent.

    Also, this partial review in:

    "Miggy,

Just a brief update on your book:

I'm 2/3 or so through it--have something like 100 pages or so to go. It's a page-turner. In fact I was carrying my Nook while the wife and I were grocery shopping.

...and to the other posters on here, if you like sci-fi and either historical fiction or alternative fiction--the "what might have happened" type, so the second label is probably more accurate--give it a read. There's suspense, intrigue, romance--which reminds me. You mentioned you've read "The Stand" and that influences your work.

For instance, when Fred and Marie meet--Ken, I think, or is it Keith? Anyway--I flashed back to the scene in "The Stand" where Harold and Susan meet Stu. Fred is acting almost *exactly* like Harold did."

I was going to download your book and copy it off but my copier broke.

    Sherrid,

    PM sent!

    IMSAVED,

    Sorry about your copier

I never really imagined people actually printing it out, though. I thought people would just read it on-line. I made a version that lays it out like a book, where you click arrows to turn the pages. I thought that'd be pretty convenient, but I guess it depends on how much time a person likes to sit at a computer!
