Who Are You?

If asked, “Who are you?” what comes to mind…what do you say?
How do you identify yourself…as your spouse’s mate, is that what you convey?
As your parent’s child, your child’s parent, or perhaps some other way
By an organization’s affiliation, a title conferred, or maybe just your name will suffice
How we see ourselves is often how we respond…a mental portrait precise
We put forth a positive image so that it will, respect & admiration entice
Our distinctive characteristics are an integral part of our particular inner being
What features of your nature requires improvement & which ones are worth repeating
Out-going or shy, reserved or brazen, warm-hearted or cold…which of these personalities are most people seeing?
Now would you know who you are if suddenly conscious memory you would lack?
What an awful thought to look in a mirror and not recognize WHO is looking back
Doesn’t memory of GOOD life experiences and TROUBLESOME trials DEFINE us…keep us on track?
For memory is a GIFT from our Creator, as we recall stored mental images of the past
A retained sense of who we are…from reflections of joy or sadness amassed
Even in our sub conscience events linger, often coming to light in drastic contrast
Can you comprehend NOT remembering anything about your childhood days?
That day at the lake, 4th of July celebrations, sleep-overs at Grandma’s & her encouraging praise?
Classmates, family picnics, meeting your spouse, or that teen-idol phase
The people who “molded” your life…taught by example the “Golden Rule”
What you learned as a child from that repulsive “peer” that was always cruel
Our personhood is often formed by adversity, unconsciously fashioned by early years in school
We hold so many precious memories of our life in this earthly tent
Graduation, our coming HOME after a long absence, wedding day, birth of a child…any truly special event
But PARTICULARLY the moment Christ called and you knew what it meant to repent
You have no memory of your physical birth…only what you’ve been told
(Maybe seen pictures & video) but the moment you were BORN AGAIN is more priceless than gold
NOTHING determines who you are more!! Or how YOUR future will unfold
As a true Christian, bound for Glory, you’ll become a WATCHER waiting for His 2nd advent
A RESTORER of Hope to a lost world, a PROCLAIMER of the purpose for which the Saviour was sent
That He died for us all, Saint & sinner alike…not just those living in a monastery or convent
Once you believe and accept, you can now fully describe who you are…the adopted CHILD of the King
A REDEEMED soul, a DISCIPLE & FOLLOWER of Christ, a RECIPIENT of the Grace only He can bring
A humble SERVANT of the risen Lord, HEIR to the Kingdom, ONE who can truly hallelujah sing
A BROTHER or SISTER in Christ, a SPREADER of the Gospel, a PROMOTER of peace
A TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit, a NEW CREATION, DEFENDER of the faith, a SLAVE that’s been given release
A TRAVELER on the narrow road, an OBTAINER of a new life…even death cannot cease
By coming to Jesus & accepting His forgiveness, these titles will establish just who you are today
What a wonderful treasure available to you once you’ve come…now willing to obey
For all these titles are GREATER than any human achievement can possibly portray
Now if you have NOT yet come to Christ…uncertain whether God’s word is true
Still wondering just who you are, don’t have that life changing moment to review
Your memory recalls times when you heard Him…but you simply withdrew
Turned away, unwilling to take that step of accepting His loving gift
Daily sinking deeper into guilty offenses, LOST!!!...unless you make a drastic shift
Reach out and receive the miracle of Salvation given on YOUR behalf…closing that dividing rift
You can become ONE with the Father…comprehend “who you are NOW” in His embrace
A VICTOR to be called home in the Rapture, having triumphed over those obstacles of this earthly race
Declaring as an old song says… “I’m just a sinner SAVED by Grace”
Make everyday a GOD day!!
