That saddens me to hear that too--especially since Jews have such a rich history in the Crimea and Ukriane. I know a few secular Jews who travel to Eastern Europe quite often and they never say anything regarding that.

Me also Florian. There is a deep historical bond between Ukrainians and Jews who suffered under Stalin and starvation together. One would think that people who endured such hardship and shared misery would have a special bond.

Hatred never makes sense..... I believe that the hatred of Jews comes strictly from the devil.... but I can tell you little kids at some schools in south Florida has to go through it! People have put swastikas spray painted at their synagogues... It makes you wonder why that would happen in Florida!

It does! Just look at how through history over & over & over again they are the scapegoats for so many things. Soon we'll have a new world though, where this diabolical hatred will be swiftly dealt with an iron fist.

I think what you aren't getting Florian is the distinction that some are trying to make. We all understand the nationalistic pride--sometimes even township fanatacism vs another city...but the difference is the NAZI hatred of Jews is an ethnic hatred- a truly different level of hatred and thinly veiled evil that transcends nationistic fanaticism.

No, I perfectly understand the distinction of both. All soccer clubs have their share of fanatics (as we call them) that truly show the ugly side of humanity when they choose to antagonize players/fans of other ethnicities. I just was a bit perplexed that's all--especially given the fact that Israel didn't even qualify for the tournament (close but no cigar--Israel is part of UEFA since the Asian Football Conference won't allow them to be a part of their Conference due to the "Palestinian dispute"--how's that for hatred?). I like to follow the Israeli National Soccer team & how they compete against Europe-they hold their own for the most part.

By the way, as an American, I will never get the massive interest in a game that is so slow and is 90% inactive kicking around the ball at midfield-and only 10% actually exciting with corner kicks, breakawyas downfield or shots on goal....I know I'm vastly outnumbered in the sports favorites category worldwide--but give me some non-stop end to end action like hockey any day ( and also hockey players don't play dead if they get a boo boo on the shin or a step on the toe)

Sorry to hear that--I won't say you're missing out since everybody has their preferences, but IMHO the goal in soccer is the most climatic event in sports (yes most Americans call it boring since it happens so infrequently). I understand your point though

I hate to see such hatred directed toward the Jewish people anywhere. They have always been persucuted throughout history but one day they will know joy undefined and limitless for having been God's chosen people.
