Default New Member from GA (question included)

Hey y'all, I'm Erica from south Georgia. I've been a Christian all my life, accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 8 years old. My husband is in the United States Air Force and we have two small kids. We've been stationed in England for a little over a year now, 2 more to go and then we will see where God takes us.
I've been keeping up with Rapture Ready for about 4 months now and I love reading the articles and forums. It's a comfort to know there are other Christians like me who look forward to meeting Jesus up in the air.

Question though... how do you respond to other Christians who say to you, "Don't dwell on it (the rapture)." ??? I promise you I'm not. I do take care of my family, read and study God's Word, and basically live the life God gave me. Being that it was my mother in law that made the remark (and I didn't want to offend her) and just sat there quietly.

Anyways, I look forward to new friendships and learning from everyone!! God bless you all!!

Welcome to RR! we are glad to have you here and I would also like to say that I (and I'm sure everyone here) am very thankful to your husbands service to our country!

As for your question, I would just kindly explain that you love your Lord and Savior and that you long to be home in His presence, free from iniquity, shane, fear and pain. Blessed are those who love the coming of the Lord!

    1 John 4:16
"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."

    Welcome and Keep 'Em Flying!

My Dearly Beloved Wife (DBW) is an AF-Brat born in Madrid thanks to the USAF.
I have couple friends and graduated(?) Boy Scouts from my old troop in there too. One works on my favorite plane: F-15C.
Our current scoutmaster was in England servicing F111s years ago. DD1 (Dear Daughter One) toured England with his wife and loves Bath.

There are some other Flyboys (maybe some girls too) here so feel at home in Christ here.

As for the Question, we should not become incapacitated by dwelling on anything, but we are energized - by Hope. By His Promise.
Knowing what He will do gives us confidence. Knowing He has shared this hope with us, reaffirms His love for us.

2 Corinthians 10:14-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

14 For we are not overextending ourselves (as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ; 15 not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in other men’s labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere, 16 to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s sphere of accomplishment

    Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Welcome to RR, Ericaweb07! We certainly needn't apologize for the yearning we have to be with our Savior and King, the Righteous One who has done and does and will do so much for us.

Thanks to all for the encouragement and the welcome

I guess I should consider the source of the remark and remembered she's a very troubled lady right now. (Lots of bitterness, anger, hatred in her heart right now.) I guess I should be praying for her instead of being offended and hurt by something she hasn't given much thought to. Eschatology is fascinating to me, I love studying world events and how they could possibly play out in Bible prophecy. Plus the idea that before the day is over I could be in Heaven with my Heavenly Father and Jesus is exciting and humbling.

Anyways, glad to be here and thanks again.

Erica, perhaps it would be more helpful to talk to her about what Jesus has already done for us.

Then the Promises of what He will do become more precious.

    Welcome Erica,

This is a great place to go to to be reminded of the hope we all share.

I live with someone who says I dwell too much on the rapture. How can one not dwell on it? From the looks of things, it's right around the corner!! We who are looking forward to our Lord's appearing have crowns waiting for us!

The rapture is the day that our Bridegroom will return for us to take us to His Father's house to celebrate the Wedding Feast. What bride wouldn't look forward with great anticipation to her wedding day? Maybe that explanation will help, but even if it doesn't, keep your enthusiasm. We're going to see our Beloved face to face for the first time! What's not to be excited about?

My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; the fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

    Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai!

Well she says she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior a long time ago... So this past week when she was crying over a situation she is going through I just asked/reminded her "Whom do you belong to? What did He promise you in His Word? Do you trust Him to do as He promised?"

This was after the whole "don't dwell on it" comment... She is very consumed with people though... As in she knows everything, her son and husband are the greatest people to ever walk the face of the earth and do no wrong PERIOD. Tsk Tsk Don't get me started on material stuff

Anyways, I realize I have my own problems and I should "remove the plank in my own eye" before pointing my finger at her.

    Been there too.

I pretty much agree with what everyone else said. It's not that we are "dwelling" on it...it's something we are excited about, so yes, we discuss it! Like wasps in a jam jar!

I think it is also important to keep us focused, and increases the urgency of witnessing to save even just one more...

    Welcome sister.

Remember, we're suppose to watch for His appearing. :-) It could be any second, day or week. We don't realize how close it really could be.

And that covers us. We long for His appearing. The creepier thing is, why aren't other Christians longing for His return?! Jesus is our goal, not a concept.

And welcome Erica, it is so nice to meet you.

I'm not sure, I just can't wrap my head around that one. The ONLY thing I can think of is anger and unforgiveness she has been hanging on to for about 2 years now has interrupted her fellowship with God?? The urgency and longing that we have for Jesus' return comes thru fellowship with God... right??
