Good Christian fiction books that deal with the Supernatural?

Fantasy is fantasy, and Narnia is but an imagined place. I take it you are looking for entertaining reading that
embraces and instills Christian values. Today that is kinda hard to find.

The neat thing about Narnia is the kids are never more than themselves. The supernatural is either manipulated by evil
or controlled by good.

Frank Peretti, Stephen Lawhead. Keeping in mind that they are Christians who write fiction. Great reads though.

Although not particulary christian, Heinlein authored some very though provoking books.

Moby Dick, any Dickens, Marryat, are some classic writers you may enjoy.


But for the true perspective, real Christian thoughts and ideas,
I'd skip the fiction and follow the writings of this Paul guy from Tarsus....

With that sound base, you can parse and enjoy fiction much beter.

There are few "good vs. evil" writers better right now than Ted Dekker. He has taken that theme and sliced it a dozen ways to Sunday, and every time he does it, the result is totally captivating.

The first book of his that I read was Heaven's Wager, which I only picked up because it mentioned a computer guy as the main character (that's what I do for a living). It was awesome. It's prequel, When Heaven Weeps, changed forever my view of God's love for me.

I really liked the Circle Trilogy, but my favorite book is Thr3e...brilliantly written. At first I thought the ending was awful, but when I thought back through the book, I realized how good it was.

I've read nearly all his stuff, and it's all worthwhile, but give those a look and see what you think.

You might also consider James Byron Huggins...if you can find anything. Hunter was outstanding, but it had a few bad words in it (he was in his more "mainstream", "write-for-the-box-office" mode). Cain, Leviathin, Nightbringer, Sorcerer...all very good.

Frank Peretti?

I read his first two books and thought they were really good. But I kind of got the impression that Peretti reduced nearly every situation in the lives of his characters to either demonic oppression or possession. While it's true that the spirit world is vast and powerful beyond our limited understanding, sometimes our circumstances are simply the result of our own sin nature and its accompanying sinful actions. Again, just my impression. But the two Peretti books I finished were still fun to read. YMMV, of course.

Tad Williams and Terry Brooks. Tolkien uses Nordic imagery, symbolism. Dennis McKiernan. Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant 1st. Chronicles. Excellent reads all portraying good vs. evil. Lawhead is probably what you're looking for.
