    Default Differences between evangelism, fundamentalism

Would someone explain to me the differences between evangelism, fundamentalism, and religious right. I hear these terms thrown around a lot, but to be honest I really don't know the specifics about each. I just read my Bible and believe what I read, so I don't know what you would call me.

That would make you a Fundamentalist.

Evangelism is telling other people what you believe.

Religious Right means voting for the candidates who come closest to your beliefs, both Scriptural and moral/fiscal.

Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge.

Just don't confuse "religious right" (conservatism) with the brand of "far right fundamentalist evangelism" of the Westboro Baptist Church types.

Come soon Lord Jesus - Take us Safely Home

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Another secular term for those who try to force the world to conform to Christian standards of morality.

I guess that would make me a far right fundamentalist evangelist! I believe the word and telling others about jesus. when I vote, it is with the scriptures in mind.

gma, did you mean the *evangelical*? That term is thrown around in the news.

It's a movement that started in the 1700's (restarted since Paul was one too) that de-emphasized ritual and emphasized personal piety. Also:

    1) need for personal conversion/being born again

    2) high regard for the authority of the Bible

    3) teachings emphasize death and resurrection of Jesus

    4) actively proclaim the Gospel.

Don't Worry, my body was bought by Christ on the cross and no longer belongs to me and I don't think he would get tatoos! The skinheads, KKK, or Neo natzis can claim they are christians, but they are not following Jesus's teaching. Someday they will have to explain to Christ why certain people were not acceptable to breath the same air they did.

I love Christ and just want to follow his teachings. I don't need a label to worship Christ. I am a Daughter of God first, Free Will Baptist last.

If you read up on both fundamentalists and evangelicals, you'll find that you probably don't want to identify yourself by either label, or any label, for that matter, except maybe "Biblical Christian."

That is what I meant. Sorry, but my fingers don't always type what my brain tell it too.

On further examination... I don't thing I want to be any of those lables. I am a Christian, pure and simple. I believe what the Word says and I will live my life as Jesus wanted me to.

I like the distinction of "Born Again Christian"
