Apostasy Anyone notice? Growing hatred against Christianity.

It would appear I have just come down in the last shower. But no, I really do think we're seeing something simmer in recent times that I haven't seen before.

Years ago for the most part as I recall, Christians were regarded as just bunch of fruit loops who assembled together while holding to a set of wacky ideas and beliefs. But were considered harmless, to be avoided perhaps, or an object of jeer and mockery.

But what I see now (granted mainly on online forums) is manifest seething anger and outright hostility.

What is really striking to me as I observe, is that a lot of the angry outbursts are done even when there is no preaching or challenge toward the poster involved. The underlying sentiment of unprovoked hatred toward fundamentalists Christians and the Christian faith is becoming disturbing.

I am not referring here to unbelievers becoming defensively hostile toward Christianity while in a debate where it can sometimes turn into a rather heated argument. I've seen that happening for years and it is understandable. People feeling challenged will often react (sometimes those most reactive become Christians and solid defenders of the faith anyway).

No, what I am talking about here is open hostility, anger and appalling blasphemy in the complete absence of prompting or provocation.

Jesus said:'He who is not with me is against me' (Matthew 12:30). The line between those who are for and against the Lord is becoming crystal clear - even moreso by the day it seems.

What really got to me recently comes from disturbing comments from a person who I have known online for more than ten years, though I have never met him in person. I've always known he wasn't a Christian, but over the years he has never exhibited anything hostile toward Christianity. In fact in some online debates among members of the forum, he has often defended aspects of Christian beliefs. But just this week he posted one of the most unwarranted accusations against Christian believers I've ever seen from him, referring to the fundamentalist Christian interpretation of the bible as 'pollution' and Christians having no understanding of the bible at all.

This is just one isolated example. On facebook I have noted a former top pro Australian bodybuilder with quite a popular following post some of the most appalling blasphemies I have seen, all seemingly without being prompted, with some vulgar and hostile commentary to boot.

These are hostile comments just from people who I know. There's literally numerous comments from people harboring the same hostile sentiments. It's like the world is desperately wanting and trying to rid what they see is the malignant cancer in society - Christianity. I wonder if the violence and frenzy is equally being unleashed in the heavenlies? The world is again beginning to thrash against the salt and light of the earth, and they will soon have their way, though for only a brief period of time in history.

The growing anger and hatred is not something we are going to see reported and analysed to determine if such a trend exists. If anything, media attention may only serve to highlight the intolerance and irrelevance of Christians and the Christian faith in the world. Particularly as the world is attempting to march toward state approval of the immoral, such as the global movement toward gay marriage for example.

This sentiment only needs state / government encouragement by way of legislating against the fundamentalist Christian faith that I see, could switch on the systematic and widespread persecution of Christians the world over, seriously like a full dam with the barrier abruptly removed. But let me hasten to say here, that I am not suggesting we are going to see any such development of state endorsed Christian persecution this side of the rapture. I am firmly convinced that Christian persecution, at least in the western world, will not gain any traction until well after the rapture has happened, and only when the anti-christ is in power and world government established. This will likely be the trigger that will launch persecution not only against the saints of the time, but the Jewish people, where they finally have their eyes opened to their true Messiah, having realized the false messiah who they spent waiting for more than several millennia, has tragically and completely deceived them.

I really see this seemingly escalating hostile sentiment and attitude toward Christians and the Christian faith as yet another clear sign of how close we are to the Lord calling us up. It is sad and disturbing to contemplate what may await the saints of the tribulation period when that pent up satanic inspired hatred is lawfully unleashed. We are seeing evil vigorously attempting to gain traction now, but it is frustrated by the presence of the salt and light of the earth. We are seeing a rapid and widespread shift toward anti-Christian anger and hostility now, and all this before the rapture has even happened. What with the restrainer removed from the world? Is anyone else noticing this?

Well, the way I handle this is to "turn it off". When I see something posted on Facebook that shows extreme hostility to Christians (and by inference, to Christ Himself), I "hide" that person and avoid reading. After all, I find it offensive.

Also, I tend not to frequent forums that would display such vitriol.

I know that prejudice against fundamental Christians will escalate, but I prefer to tune out if possible.

    Yes, we must be close.

I am seeing this as well.Cruel comments among my co-workers when I am standing nearby and they know that I can hear them.Passive hatred and anger. Is this coming from the darkness of their hearts or that we remind them of their eternity?

You should go to a family reunion on my Mom's side! It's terrible this way. The worst part is that the vast majority of them believe they are Christians, but Bible believing Christians --- well, as far as they're concerned, we're right up there with molesters and murderers... But, they've always been that way. Nothing new.

As far as FB is concerned... that's what the hide or the unfriend button is for. I've blocked a few cousins and a few other random people because I don't want to read it. Period. And, I'm not interested in anything else someoen who holds those views has to say.

I have seen this trend for 2 to 3 years from the Talking Heads like the View, Bill Maher, etc etc..often Christian is tied in their minds to Christian=Right Wing=Republican=-extremist/fundementalist=oppressors=haters etc etc. MSM has been pushing these buzz words and feeding this hatred for years and it is really starting to take root.

This is why when I read so many posts of people who seem so sure that we will never face persecution in the USA-I just have to shake my head because it is already starting!

I think many confuse the issue that we are promised not to be subject to GOD's wrath and thus will escape the Tribulation. However we could very well have to endure persecution from man and government before God removes us and the Restrainer/Holy Spirit. I believe one of the key issues could be homosexuality. As bible-believing fundementalist Christians continue to call homosexuality a perversion, against God, a sin or even immoral..eventually I could see this being considered hate-speech and punishable by imprisonment...we are not that far away considering how rapidly the world sinks into its vileness and dubauchery.

I see it often when the press is reporting some muslim atrocity. The comments turn to religion is bad and then to those bad Christians. The dissillusion is astounding. I guess with cold hearts the thinking is, if it's not me then I don't care. The latest bizarre story of the zombie attack in Miami, the press loves to report this man went to a bible study and then report he was never without a bible. Really? Never?

You can see how the press can turn anything into a Christian attack. Very similiar to Nazi Germany against Jews, isn't it?

Scripture tells us to keep our own houses clean, that if we are going to get in trouble, let it be for being good/righteous. We need to pray for each other for strength in the these troubling times and for what may be coming.

I'm not actively seeking it out, but yeah the attitude towards Christianity is getting scary. It's just crazy how fast things have been going downhill lately.

    Tsk tsk

Yeah, it's getting really bad. I remember a staff member, when I was in 11th grade, told a kid "You shouldn't say the name of God in school you should be ashamed of yourself." Yet, a year before it was ok to have a school play about a guy selling his soul to the Devil for a yankees game.

I remember one boy screamed down the hall a few times (I was in 12th grade) "There is no God!" Pray for him (and this other kid, nay be the same boy though).

When I was taking a note (I was in guidence office 3rd period 12th grade to take notes to students) to someone I seen this boy. He threatened to crucify someone and catch the cross on fire. He than said "You crazy Christian!"

My friend was in gym. He told me a boy told him to not let the Bible touch him because it would burn him inside. He said the demons give him powers.

I remember a boy had a hoody/sweater on in the neighborhood. It had something about the lions again and Christians.

So, yeah this world is really getting bad. And that was a few years ago.
