Thread: Question about the Jews

    Default Question about the Jews

I used to go to Hagee's church years ago. I'm confused. God has a special covenant with his people. He blinded them so they couldn't see that Jesus was the messiah so the gentiles could be grafted in. They are still his chosen people. So are they covered until Jesus comes back the 2nd time and maybe witness to them so they can accept salvation? I know no man comes to the father accept by me and all have sinned fallen short. But if the Jews are God's favorite so to speak wouldn't they be under a special protection of salvation or something. I pray for Israel and the Jews daily. If it wasn't for the Jews we wouldn't have Jesus. I have a Jewish friend that says really we are all Jews because Jesus was Jewish. I just don't want anyone to go to hell but especially not the Jews. If God says I will bless those that bless you seems to me that God plans on keeping his word. After we are raptured God reveals himself and they get saved.

Someone please help me with this. It has bothered my heart for years. Much thanks.

The gospel of salvation came first to the Jews and then it was opened for the Gentiles.

First let me clear one thing up. God's covenant is to Israel as a nation.

I'm sure there are articles and other threads others here can point you towards in regards to the covenant with Israel.

The Church has always been open for Individual Jews (not as a nation) and Gentiles and there are still Jews coming to salvation through Christ today. So do pray for them and share the gospel with them whenever you can. The early Apostles brought many individual Jews (not the nation of Israel) into the kingdom of God through the gospel of salvation and since that time Jews have always been able to repent and recieve Christ just like the Gentiles. Nothing has changed over the centuries since the early Church.

The prophecies about God's covenant and promises being fulfilled concern Israel as a nation. That will happen through the Tribulation.

Not well and able to list the full details of what that is here.

Can other Forum members please fill in the gaps for Going Up. thanks.

First, read Romans 9-11, God's plan is spelled out in all its glory.

Just to clarify something, the Jews are chosen but not God's favorites, He tells us there is no partiality with Him. He says He did not choose the Jews because they are better than anyone else for they were small and weak. He keeps His promises to them for the sake of their fathers (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.) The Jews are not chosen to be chosen but they've had a commission - to be priests to the Gentiles. God loves Gentiles just as much.

No, they don't have any special in with God, no way to be saved other than belief in Jesus the Messiah. They did not recognize Him and would not believe in Him when He came to them. So God partially hardened their hearts (Romans 11:25) until the fulness of the Gentiles happens. They are not fully blinded even now. There has always been a remnant of Jewish believers. Even in the OT time it wasn't a majority who were truly faithful to God.

The Trib will be the last seven years of Israel's history as we know it. God will use the horrific events to bring the Jewish nation to their knees in repentance of their unbelief in Jesus. At the end of the Trib they will recognize they missed Messiah Jesus and they will cry out as one cries for their only son. Jesus will return to them just as He promised and will usher in the Millennium, wherein all the promises as yet unfulfilled will come to pass.

And all we who love Israel will rejoice.

Argh, I can't edit my post.

Read Zechariah 12-14 also, it's awesome.

In answer to your friend, no, Gentile believers do not become Jews. That's the stuff cults are made of.

As a matter of fact, in Jesus there are no longer any Jews or Gentiles but what Paul calls the "one new man", something the world has never seen before. (Ephesians 2:14-16)

If we didn't answer your questions please ask again, no reason to have your heart be bothered.

As the other's said, God's promises to the Jews was as a Nation.

One of the primary purposes of the Trib is to force the nation of Israel to recognize their previous error concerning the First Coming of Jesus so that they repent and welcome His Second Coming.

Hagee believes in Dual Covenant Theology (a unbiblical teaching similar to Universalism)

in which Dual Covenant theology folks believe there is more than 1 way to Heaven
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:21)
