Hi IMS, I have one from the S 5000 series and can recommend it. It came with a standard floor head but we also purchased what they call the Turbo head which is extra powerful because we have a Rag-doll cat and carpet in some rooms. One thing you have to watch out for when purchasing a Miele product is make sure the vacuum cleaner is German made. China has cheekily manufactured some 'cheaper' Miele vacuums and some people are not upfront about pointing that out.

Something else I have found is I prefer the bags manufactured by Miele (I use the G N bags) to other bags that are said by distributors to work just as well. The proper bags are really good quality and prevent dust seeping through.

    Well worth the money.

As far as I'm aware Miele vacs require bags. They come in a box that includes replacement air clean filter and exhaust filter and cost around $18 - $20. Our dollar is around the same as yours at the moment so should be comparable. Think the box contains 5 bags + filters and they last for quite a while because the vacuum has a really good bag content indicator so you don't replace it too soon.
