    Default Egg Rolls

Anybody make egg rolls? I have some online recipes but am open for suggestions.
The Philippinos that I use to work with made 'wraps', meat and veggies fried in a roll. Oh they were so good.
I dont mind if my egg roll is a little greasy.
I am planning to make some tomorrow night with sauteed cabbage, shredded carrot, shrimp and soy sauce.

I made some good ones from a recipe I saw on a local morning show several years ago. It's very easy and the rolls have a wonderful flavor.

    Egg Rolls

1 12-16 oz. bag slaw mix, shredded cabbage and carrots
    2 green onions, chopped
1 lb. Jimmy Dean Hot or Regular Breakfast Sausage

Pour slaw mix into a bowl. Add onion. Set aside. Cook sausage and pour it over the slaw mix and onion. Toss lightly and cover with foil. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes. The heat of the sausage will wilt the cabbage a bit.
Fill wrappers and fry in peanut oil.

I miss eating wheat...so much. I feel so much better though

    Nothing too it, really.

You buy the Won Ton skins in most grocery stores. Stuff them with whatever you like. Shredded Napa Cabbage and a bit of meat (ideally pork), some soy and ginger. Just make sure you seal them well so the oil cant get inside.

Thanks for the ideas! I would have never thought to use sausage.
I made mine last night and they were wonderful.
I think I would like to try Napa cabbage...I didnt think of that but the regular cabbage was good.
It was missing a little something 'chinese' and maybe ginger is the ticket. I've never used it before.
I saw a recipe for Southwest Rolls...used chicken, black beans, cheese and hot peppers. We will try that one next.

i've made Lumpia ... well, sort of. it wasn't proper lumpia like what you'd find in a restaurant or authentic household. its a recipe i got from my brother-in-law's stepmom who is from Hawaii.

it has ground beef, cabbage, carrots, canned water chestnuts, soy sauce and a few other things i can't remember. but they are very good.
